What makes my job worthwhile...

Let's face it, I don't have the most exciting job on the planet. I'm a cataloger at a public library and I create catalog records, edit existing catalog records, and help maintain those records, as well as supervise a staff of 4. A lot of my job involves sitting at my desk for long periods of time, which can get really BORING--enough that it can just about put me to sleep at times.

In order to keep myself motivated to keep going (besides needing to contribute to the family budget), I've redone my Windows desktop to reflect a distinctly Pentaxian feel, with Pentax red and black colors, as well as one of the wallpapers from Pentaxian.com. I took a picture of it this morning, but I don't have any way of uploading it to this posting until I get home, but I plan to.

Not only does this job help pay the bills, it supports my photography habit, which I would much rather be indulging.

Heather, the grass is always greener on the other side - unless it's burnt of course. It also sounds to me that you either need to forget the elevator and start taking the stairs or, walk around the centopath a few times - that, I'm sure, will get the fluids flowing and you won't fall asleep.

If that doesn't work try the new Google "napquest" for the closest room were you can get a few zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz without being cought.

Believe me, I do that. There are times where I find any excuse to get up from my computer--anything to move around a little...

It doesn't help that as of late, it's been rather stuffy in here, which also makes me want to go to sleep. Unfortunately, there isn't anything I can do about the office temp (long story).

I guess I'll have to keep walking around and piling on the caffiene.

Oh well...

Sounds like you have a job like me, not very busy most of the time, but I can't say it's not fun sometimes.

I tend to get uyp and wander around the shop every hour or so just so I don't go insane.

Nice work.

I sit at a desk all day. I dare not move though, beacuse the second I do there is another 1000 sheets of paper on it!

I kinda like that. Which reminds me, that some colours are considered calming, depressing, etc. I remember sometime in the late 70s when companies painted resting rooms (not toilets) in particular colours to get the staff to relax - the point! Maybe you can use a particular colour on your work monitor.
