There have been some excellent examples of which words drive them, and me also, nuts when spelled/spelt or pronounced incorrectly.
One that always annoys me is when people pronounce etcetera as eccetra. Drives my insane!
Wiv/wiff instead of with is another pet hate.
Having bitched about that, here is a great example that maybe we are too pedantic?
Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, olny taht the frist and lsat ltteres are at the rghit pcleas. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by ilstef, but the wrod as a wlohe.
Still legible and yet completely misspelled/misspelt.

We have a lot people from non English speaking countries using this forum, and I applaud the fact that they can speak, write and understand a language foreign to them. I wish I could do the same, and their spelling and/or grammar mistakes mean nothing to me.
For those of us from English speaking descent, spelling errors are harder to overlook, given the ease of spell checkers. Google has one that plugs into the tool bar and is hence only a click away.
But the folks who get under my skin are the ones who confuse forum posting for text messaging. Fortunately this board seems to be devoid of them!
Last but not least, here are some more misused or misspelled words:
To Too Two
Then Than
One Won
Its It's

Obviously I can neither spell or pronounce it. Luckily that does not prevent me from using it or from using the aperture ring
Now try this: blandaree (pronounce) = bländare (spelled) in Swedish (another language were one can't know for sure how to spell a word even if you know how to pronounce it. And then we have even three more letters in the alfabet to mess around with

Lense is simply a variant of "lens." Years ago, many used the word "lense" to describe a system which contained several individual glass elements, with each of those elements called a lens. Thus, the device on the front of a camera would be called a "lense," with several of those devices called "lenses." Most filters, on the other hand, contain a single lens. The word "lense" is now mostly archaic, though many old-timers like myself still tend to use it occasionally.
Listen up language crusher, it's "I have seen", or "I saw", not "I seen". Every time I hear someone say that my brain turns to acid and boils out my ear. It's not pretty. Believe me.

I have a similar reaction to the atrocious (and increasingly universal) "if I would have" instead of the correct "if I had".
Another thing I find particularly annoying is the use of "internet shorthand", such as "u" instead of "you", "4" instead of for, "@" instead of "at" and so on.
Also "animé" smilies like ^_^ > reserved for internet chatrooms and 12-year-old Naruto fangirls only.

This is a civilised forum; let's keep it as such.
