Benjikan...??

The question has been asked in another thread, now blocked, is Ben's (self) promotion any different to that of any other posters...?

The question actually rankles my normally still waters.

The answer: YES!! very bloody different.

Benjikan gives very freely of his very obvious talent and skill to this forum. That is fact and beyond question, supported by a simple search.

Benjikan is also a site supporter, one whom is prepared to make a financial contribution to this wonderful site. This simple act does not give Ben, or anyone else who makes a simlar contribution, any more or less rights to expressing an opinion on pentaxforums.com....but it does show that he, along with many others is prepared to put his money where his mouth his.....unlike certain others who take a free ride.

To the point: Ben's links to his sites are informative, impartial, educational, and not actively promoted ( I have never seen Ben post a highlighted link....unlike someone else who says, see my blog....) and just a bloody good resource for anyone with any remote interest in PHOTOGRAPHY.

Disclaimer:
I do not know benjikan,
I have never met benjikan (and probably never will),
I am not related to benjikan,
I don't even like fashion photography, but I do recognise and appreciate skill & talent when I see it,

But I am pissed off that a great resource should be questioned in this manner, while a trouble maker with a history is given some sort of comfort.
Look at the facts people and do your homework.

I would suggest we maintain civility in our forum discussions. Simply we should do for/to others; what we would have them do for/to us. I have never noticed Ben getting mean with anyone nor trying to take over a discussion based on his obvious talents; rather he takes the time to share with all (beginners to experts). Friendship (which PentaxForums promotes) even among strangers requires a certain give and take, and also it requires a certain sensitivity to others' feelings. We can contain rogue posts by just not responding. Positive posts can be supported by responding in kind. Just a thought.

Mallee Boy, honestly what is the point of this thread?
The thread RH started in News & Rumors section has been closed and it serves no purpose to continue any further discussion.

While I personally may not agree with RH's view points, nonetheless I don't think it is right to single him out for personal attack and vitriol.

Unwarranted personal attacks, snide remarks and insinuations do little but degrade the quality of posts on the forum and it merely reflects badly on the individual. Let sanity prevail and let's not get over the top.

note the difference between what happened here and on dpreview when somebody posted a link to his blog... there were only 3 (THREE) people
who attacked RH and then discussion was all about FF and not about RH... and that is how it should be.

From Pentax: Full Frame Camera in Development! [Page 1]: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

those 3 are :

jonska - "And straight from the hogwash peddler himself too."

Rupert60 - "Even a pea brain could tell us what RH did. Not that I am saying RH has a pea brain, in all fairness to peas."

JanneM - "The man is unbalanced, and Pentax happens to be his delusional obsession of choice. He should be getting help; unfortunately it doesn't seem that his social environment is giving him that. And much as I hate to say it (giving myself some small responsibility here) the attention given to him is only fuelling the obsesion and making it more difficult for him to seek and get the help he needs."

very intelligent, huh ?

If you do, please, note the part of the post where I am saying that I am cool with both types of links and I dont have anything against them.

Then , let me will provide you with the kind of post I referred and I dont see that different from the linking behaviour of RH

Now, I will set some things clear. I have had the pleasure of enjoy Ben's talent and knowledge in some of his posts. I disagree with his ways of promote some things but I dont, and I repeat it again, I dont have ANYTHING against him. If you read the post I didnt referred to his name. I have seen similar posts ocassionally from other people that I cant recall now and that I am cool with them also. I will repeat for the last time. I am cool with people using the forum for their personal interest. I do it too when I sell and buy things in the marketplace.

BTW, I am also a site supporter so regarding your classification of people I also deserve to give an opinion.
Hi Gruoso,
No, I was not referring to any comment you have made.
But even your links miss the point. I'll drop it, as others have pointed out, it serves no purpose in reality.
