Interesting Blog Article about Macs

Came across this article, which is interesting in and of itself. But I found the comments section below pretty entertaining. The conversation gets quite lively.

I'm not a mac basher because I own a mac. I do resent paying such a high premium though.

No denying it - Macs cost more...
Even still, iMac prices are tumbling down even from just 3 years ago.
They were worth it back then - and now...

Oh no -- Mac vs. PC

Note: I am a Windows user on my desktop, LINUX for servers and used a Mac a lot for DTP "back in the day".

IMO Macs have sacrificed a lot of their worth in recent years by going cheap on parts and sacrificing standard ports for non-standard. For example: How many different video adapters does one need just to keep up with all the Macs? Another: Newer Macs do not even have a fully compatible Firewire port... plays badly with RME gear etc.

Plus things like the Air are just slick toys for rich kids. Not the makings of a serious line of products.

OTOH rewriting the OS based on UNIX was a work of genius... though rather a bit too late. The Mac is still playing catch-up a decade later with the Next PC. In terms of interface I prefer Windows (scandal) as it is more straightforward. Some of the Windows configuration is barbaric, however.

Macs are for people who like a standardised lifestyle in which they are told what apps to use and how to use them. Windows is actually much more for hackers and those who like to think outside the box... despite all the pathetic Apple advertising to the contrary.

Besides, great apps like Samplitude do not run on Macs.

P.S. I have never bought a Microsoft product except Windows. Not a big fan of the company. And I use Open Source where possible: Python, OpenOffice.org, etc.
