What has this got to do with Pentax?

They are nice specs though, but it is way out of my price range. Even if I started again with camera equipment, that camera woouldn't even be anywhere near my ballpark.

Good question.
Yes nice specs, but not a camera to compare to Pentax, and definitely not intended to. Pears and Bananas.

Besides, On a local forum Im on, everyone doesn't seem to be that impressed by this new elitist, err I mean, Canon camera.

I find alot of Pentax user's have bought into the wrong brand with the wrong ideas and fanatic ideals... *sigh*

/me snuggles his K20D

The price could make drop the D700/A900 prices also (and old 5D). Except the sensor&processor seems a combined 50D & old 5D.

At USD2700 for the body only and USD3500 with a 24-105 F4L lens it would want to be good!

There is no point in comparing it with current Pentax models - if you have to have FF (and you can afford it) then you can only compare it to other FF models.

So... THY question is, as in real life, who is the Pears and who is the Bananas?

..Of course That would be telling

If I was a sports photographer, I'd much rather have Nikon's D700 with its much faster burst mode.

SLRs with movie mode are a big "meh" for me.

Amen! The disconnect between desired features and how much they will cost is of constant consternation and amazement to me.
I really hope Pentax gives us a small, affordable 'still' camera. But, I worry about Samsung and Hoya ******* things up. Soon, we'll see if not the future, some more clues.
Whatever happens, the trolls and those lacking common sense, will soon be overwhelming this forum. I'm just waiting for the pdf manual and a price on a new body.

RiceHigh is going to be real quick in praising this as the greatest camera ever, and using it to show why Pentax sucks. expect to hear from him real soon.

Whatever Canon and Nikon releases, Pentax can still make a "killer pro-level".
It seems to me that there is an idea floating around in Pentax forums that Pentax can't make better cameras than Nikon and Canon - every time Canon or Nikon release a new model, we have lots of postings here about Pentax not being able to compete etc.
This shows a lack of faith in Pentax (and in Hoya + Samsung).

First, Pentax needs to adress the entry level. Pentax got a lot of criticism for the K200D being not entry level enough. After this, Pentax can adress the upper-market.
We'll have to wait and see what the future K30D and KxD will bring.

Brilliant HD implementation :-o

Well, probably a nice camera. But this HD feature... Look on dpreview where two movie samples are available. They look good - but without sound recording???? Sure, I'd love to carry this big gun around and have a sound recording device on my back to get the weight in better balance.

Or are just the samples crap? But there is no hint on sound recording in the specs. That is absolutely ridiculous. It doesn't have to be super high quality dolby etc. but at least a simple 5$ stereo microphone they really should have added.

I only say: Canon...

Well, this is all fine and good, and I really don't see what this has to do with pentax either. I have not even seen the slightest pretense of them competing with the big 2. You bought into a system, you joined a forum that centralizes around that system.

Why is it we have so many people bashing the Pentax system on Pentax forums. Doom and Gloom Doom and Gloom. I seriously question the number of "photographers" that frequent this site. I see a whole lot of gadget obsessed people looking for the next best thing from concievably the wrong brand.

Now, I'm in no way saying Pentax is incapable of releasing the next best thing.....or am I?

It doesn't really matter.

Me, I shoot Pentax because I enjoy the old lenses and I thought...yes I THOUGHT I appreciated the community as well. That notion is growing dimmer with each visit to this website. No, maybe just this particular forum.

I'm excited to see what Pentax releases, or doesn't. Either way, I'll be out shooting with my K20D and K10D s much as I can.
