Surprise

Kodachrome!!

Of course now I have to deal with taking, processing, scanning and posting - lots of stuff to do during the dark days of winter.

Between various family members gifts, I got myself or got the following:

--Tenba Shootout medium rolling backpack--I got a very sweet deal on this one! After the rebate check comes in, this backpack will have cost me just under $100.
--DFA100/2.8 macro lens
--Lightroom 2 upgrade--can't wait to try the graduated filter
--Optech Tripod strap
--Tamrac filter pouch
--A couple of books:
Amazon.com: Digital Photography Outdoors: A Field Guide for Travel and Adventure Photographers: James Martin: Books
Amazon.com: Macro Photography for Gardeners and Nature Lovers: The Essential Guide to Digital Techniques: Alan L. Detrick: Books

In addition to the books I already got, I ordered a couple more LR2-related books to help me learn it better. Most of my learning has been by doing, so I figure that having a couple of good related titles will help me get a better overall picture of what LR is capable of.
Amazon.com: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques: Chris Orwig: Books
Amazon.com: Photoshop Lightroom 2 Adventure: Mikkel Aaland: Books

All in all, a very good Christmas...and I'm not just referring to the gifs.

Wow -- nice additions everyone!

I got (myself) a Gitzo GT1932 basalt tripod to mount under the Bogen 488RC2 ballhead that I got a few weeks ago.

Now I just need appropriate subject matter and the most important factor: the time to use it. Such a rarity these days. I was visiting my mom for a couple of days and never got a chance to raid her orchid greenhouse for macros.

Battery grip, which I'm really liking so far, and I got my Dad an Epson V500 to scan his slide collection with.

Couple of computer games, some books, some film, and a few picture frames (my walls are bare). No other photography related equipment, sadly. But I like all of my gifts!

Personally...I don't mind getting clothes (anymore...)

lol a new pair of slippers I'm wearing now, couple of hoodies, couple tshirts, another watch plus the yearly Fossil I always treat myself to, etc.

My parents are happy with the 16x20 prints I gave them. My mom had frames already, and they might even get hung on the wall yet tonight. "It's the thought that counts..."

Me, I got a Wacom Bamboo Fun (Sm) Graphics Tablet. Photoshop, look out now, theres a new editing tool controlling you now!

Mike, I must thank the members of the forum that helped my wife with Christmas this year. Under the tree was a Tak 28mm f3.5 complete with matching case in near mint condition and a second present which was a Lowepro Sliplock case that fits on my S&F belt and is just the right size for the Sigma 70-200 f2.8. Both perfect gifts.

The Tak is one stunning little lens. I've only done some basic test shots with it but it's one fine, sharp lens, maybe one of the better lenses in the bag.

Again thanks to those that helped her make it happen.
Happy New year everyone!

Oh and a 1T hard drive. She noticed me struggling with the 2 drives I have now, trying to manage space and this is near a perfect addition to the 'kit'.

Well because of the shifts I work at the fire Dept, my family celebrates Xmas a few days late when I am not on shift... so I won't know what I'm getting for Xmas until saturday

I did give myself an early gift though... it's a funny story...

A few weeks ago I asked my sister what she wants for Xmas... now she's an art student and asks for a small Wacom bamboo tablet. Fine, I get her one... bring it home and before wrapping it decide to give it a quick try to see what all the fuss is about...

Next thing you know, I am back at the store to buy her another one... you see the one originally meant for her sort of decided to stay on my desk! Holy cow it takes photo editing in photoshop to a whole new level!!!
