As per my posting in "Everything Else", we didnt really have a Christmas Day. However, a few gifts were exchanged . I ended up with some nice clothes, some good reading matter and a couple of good bottles of wine.
My daughter however, has given me an open order to purchase a new camera bag.
Backpack style I reckon.
The choices though Lowepro, etc etc etc.

My wife and I haven't exchanged gifts for birthdays/anniversaries/Christmas for many, many years (only exchange cards), as we usually buy what we want when we want it. However, I did have the pleasure of having my wife rest on the couch (recovering from back surgery), while I made Christmas dinner (thanks, Giant!). My younger son and his GF were here for dinner, and we called my older son and his family (snowbound in WA), so Christmas was all I could ever have asked for.

You are really going to like the FA 35/2. (Actually, both your new toys are pretty awesome.)

It won't work. My wife is in a wheelchair, and she also uses the computer and its add-on, so everything needs to be in such a way as to make it accessible/functional for her. Take my word when I say you never have enough room in the house when there is a wheelchair in.

Ah, I didn't know about that aspect. I understand, though. I'm not at the point of looking for one of those little scooters and a Bogen Magic Arm, but I spend a lot of time in chairs. If you think I might be able to help design you out of having to knock down walls, though, let me know.

Everyone says good things about that one. Feel nice, too. When I ordered my FA 50, I was kind of expecting it to feel crappy-plastickey like the ones with the plastic MF ring, ....pleasant surprise.

Makes me wonder how many different things they made like that.

I got Lightroom 2, FA35, Extension Tubes, Pentax magnifying eyepiece, Ansel Adams book, Annie Liebowitz book and next month a new Macbook and an Apple Cinema Monitor.
I'm consider myself truly blessed that my wife's family is extremely supportive of my photographic ambitions.

A Pentax K20D body, an Elinchrome studio strobe system (four monolights) to replace my well aged Speedotron setup, an upgrade to Photoshop CS4, and a sexy store mannequin (w/clothing, wigs, etc) for test shots while experimenting with various lighting arrangements.

The latter was demanded by my wife so I'll stop bugging her to pose for test shots all the time. After decades of that, I rather suspect she's dreading the arrival of those new lights.

I'll probably be using it tomorrow for a 95th Bday party so I'll let you know. My initial impression from having it on the camera are that although the magnification is not much, it is just enough to help with manual focusing.
