I'd be intertested to know what ben thinks of this? Ovb its aimed at younger fashion concious people and I image it'll do very well! Personally I think it's trying to hard to be a perfume advert and a boring one at that but still its a good try. The model is gorgeous!
I'm awaiting the samples from the 12mp sensor though can't imagine it'll be that good.
Don't think this has been posted, but the Olympus is also using the silly "Will It Blend?" videos in Youtube to advertise the camera. Smart move IMO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FWv21EgRZU&NR=1
olympus is cashing in on the move towards rangefinder style digital cameras. its an excellent upscale and more versatile option to the P&S. and they are brilliant for bringing back the PEN name. nothing beats a vintage appeal to bring in young customers. I think if priced right this could do very well, and bring about a shift in the quality of compact digital's. I like it. I kind of want one. its sexy (the camera. though the lady wasn't too bad...)
I think the main thing this ad does right is when she puts it in her pocket at the end and changes the lens in the beginning. I know they wanted these for the "pay off" moments but it takes WAY too long to get there IMO. At least Nikon lets Ashton Kutcher show off what the camera can do.
OK.... so what is an ART FILTER? I assume when you turn it on, every photo you take is transformed by a magic Olympus algorithm into a work of art worthy of hanging in the MET or the Louvre... Come on lemmings, buy a PEN cause we have a sexy model putting it into her pocket.

An "Art Filter" is what Olympus calls their new in-camera processing effects that Pentax had for, oh, about half a decade. Except they talk 'em up more than Pentax, and there's significantly less of them.
Curious fact: the recently released E-30 has what it calls a "Pinhole" art filter. They were, in fact, going to call it the "Toy Camera" filter...except Pentax beat 'em to the punch by a couple of months with that name on one of the filters in the K-m.
At least Pentax doesn't call them ART FILTERS. I have no issue with Olympus or Pentax or any other in-camera filter/processing. It's just a little pretentious to call them ART FILTERS isn't it?
Olympus is definetly the most intresting of camera manufacturers ATM (in my opinion)
Style sells, especially to young people, and the E-P1 is the most stylish camera I've seen in years. Just look at the matching straps, for example, and there are probably more color schemes that they'll roll out as well. We can argue specs and useability all day long, but there's no denying (IMO) the visual appeal of this new camera.
Having just read-up on the E-P1 it's got a 4/3 images sensor. So saying it's got SLR quality images is a bit misleading.
At 12 Mp I can't see it doing so well at high ISO either.

Yeah. Although I'm sorta willing to think that it's some sort of weird direct Japanese translation. Not really, though.
