.....who advised me to get out and shoot some as therapy for my bad back. Worked like a charm! Never felt a thing all day! Well, O.K. I was walking like the Hunch Back of Notre Dame but I did feel better. that is I felt better until I sat down at this P.C. Now I am starting to stiffen up.
I started my portfolio/photo essay on the covered bridges of Perry County, Pa. Some of the shots look good and some like the amateur that I still am. I will probably post some of them later on.
So in closing let me just say a big THANK YOU to Gary and all who advised me to get out with the camera. At least for a few hours I felt good. The morning will be another story I am sure.
Good to hear.
Hope it becomes a vocation that helps deal with the pain for good!
We're in these bodies that are designed to be dynamic, not sitting still for hours on end, so it's always good advice to get out and about as much as you can tolerate.
Look forward to seeing your results.
Sorry that you've joined the bad back club Eric
Gary was right, getting out with the camera is one of the best remedies I know of.
I actually have the nicest letter, from one of the best Landscape and Fine Art photographers out there, telling me how photography saved his life.
It has definitely enhanced mine, often being the only thing that can get me out.
We have one of those in the photo lab, and they're nice to have around.
For me they aren't the right thing, the wheels are too small for the terrain I still walk through.
I find the best thing is choose your equipment wisely, and only carry one lens, flash, and so-on with you.
If your smarter than I am you'll also sell off all your heavy lenses before you become addicted to the results you achieve from them
Congrats!! Remember to get up about every 15 - 20 minutes and move so you don't stiffen up as much.
And, I'd like to see you pics of the bridges! I'm a bridges and barns person myself. Whenever I see one while riding around, I tell my husband STOP! And he says, WHAT?? And I say I want to take a picture of that barn. He just rolls his eyes and pulls over for me.

Well, they are posted here in the critique forum. Here is the link and please, if they blind you just remember you asked for them.
Mom is in her seventies now and is still yet to explain exactly how one goes about fighting nicely. Well, I guess since she is mom she does not have to explain!
I am going to tell both of you the same thing my mother used to to me and my brothers. Now you boys fight nicely!
When my brother and I fought my dad would tell us that the only thing he wanted to hear comin' out of our mouths was nothin'. He always said it like it made total sense, but I think that's because he is from Minnesota.
Actually when my back hurts too much to shoot I just rip off some Gary's photos and then tell my wife I shot the photos. She never wonders how I got the photos of the bay when we live in Illinois.
