That's really funny... well Jon Stewart may be a comedian but at least he puts issues in a better perspective. Comedy is good when Americans are bombarded silly by the pandemic of disinformation coming from right wing Republicans - Whine Flu
I really thank MR. Stewart for EDUCATING me. Why doesn't he just say it like it is? The rich will not need to rely on government Healthcare.. the poor will be getting an "upgrade", and the middle class with be dumped into the program by companies looking to save millions annually on HC premiums.
So, I don't know about you guys.. but.. I am REALLY looking forward to getting taxed MORE.. and getting Government HC! Wow.. this is great.
Trust me.. I have been to the DMV one too many times to know the government doesn't do much right... let alone care about my healthcare needs.
Eight more Glenn Beck advertisers, including Wal-Mart – the world’s largest retailer – have confirmed to ColorOfChange.org that they pulled their ads from the controversial Fox News Channel broadcaster’s eponymous show. Allergan (maker of Restasis), Ally Bank (a unit of GMAC Financial Services), Best Buy, Broadview Security, CVS, Re-Bath, Travelocity and Wal-Mart join the dozen other companies who previously distanced themselves from Beck.
Twenty companies have pulled their ads from Beck’s show in just the last two weeks. The moves come after the Fox News host called President Obama a “racist” who “has a deep-seated hatred for white people” during an appearance on Fox & Friends. Previous companies who pulled their ads include ConAgra, GEICO, Lawyers.com, Men’s Wearhouse, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, RadioShack, Roche, SC Johnson, Sanofi-Aventis, Sargento, and State Farm Insurance.
“We are heartened to see so many corporate citizens step up in support of our campaign against Glenn Beck,” said James Rucker, executive director of ColorOfChange.org. “Their action sends a clear a message to Glenn Beck: Broadcasters shouldn’t abuse the privilege they enjoy by spewing dangerous and racially charged hate language over the air. No matter their political affiliation, hate language doesn’t belong in our national dialogue.”
Apparently, he isn't in it for the money. Although RadioShack is sucking ass anyway and this will probably contribute to their continued demise. I figure insurance companies are just sucking up.
Does anyone actually think that John Stewart does not have his own agenda when it comes to the slant he puts on the "news" Here is a man that many Americans watch daily to get the news from No media outlet is free from their parent companies political agenda be it to the right or the left. To sit here and say that someone on a comedy channel is a worthy source of unbiased news is lying to themselves.
Read and watch as many diffrent sources of news as you can and come to your own conclusion dont sit there and be fed one "view" of the news. Before I get slammed I do watch Fox, as well as CNN,MSNBC and read the feeds from AP,Reuters as well as a half dozen newspaper websites.
Ok heading off the soapbox have fun all
.
Was there some slant in basically showing two Glen Beck videos juxtaposed?
Beck hangs himself wonderfully. Not that anyone besides a clueless moron would watch him for anything but entertainment value.
At least with Jon Stewart, you turn on the show for a laugh, and often get stuff like... well, words coming directly out of Glenn Beck's mouth that expose him as a blowhard idiot. Bonus, fun and utility!

Update: Another reader got a better explanation from Wal-Mart:
I am sorry to hear your concern. We continuously review our media plans. In keeping with our internal guidelines to avoid content that is highly polarizing, we’ve instructed our agencies, as of August 3rd, not to run Walmart advertising in news commentary shows on national cable networks. This would include the Glenn Beck Show.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. Should you need to call us, we are more than happy to further assist you at 1-800-966-6546.
Great work, Color of Change, you are killing the struggling shows like Hardball, Ed Show, Anderson Cooper 180, and Maddow, in addition to the once-strong brands such as Olbermann, which is now hemorraging viewers, by yanking their few high-paying advertisers away from them.
We appreciate your concerns on the recent advertising matter that’s been circulating in the media. Unfortunately, our policy and response to the matter have been misrepresented by the activist group involved. RadioShack does not advertise on Glenn Beck’s program and we have not advertised on his program, so there were no ads to cancel. The protestors have included RadioShack because one of our manufacturers advertises its “magicJack” product on Glenn Beck’s show, and the ads say “available at RadioShack.”

Dear Ed:
Thanks for your note.
While advertising on Fox is part of our communication plan, we had not
requested time on Glenn Beck’s show specifically. We have instructed our
advertising agency to inform Fox to ensure Glenn Beck’s program is not part of
our advertising plan.
Our position is simple. We support vigorous debate, especially around policy
issues that affect millions of Americans, but we expect it to be informed, inclusive
and respectful, in keeping with our company’s core values and commitment to
diversity.

The ad depts of these companies want to take a stand, but they also don't want the right-wingnuts to stop buying their products either - so they have to take a stand politely, especially when confronted by teabaggers.

Pretty simple.

The opposite of teabagger is nut licker! Decent was Patriotic 3-5 years ago. Also, I guess you are considering George McGovern right wing.
Edit: I have asked people to lay of the vulgarity in the past.
Edit: Edit: Also, the fact remains that those companies aren't targeting Beck, especially Wal-Fart but commentary in general.
Dissent != calling the president a racist or a Nazi, or whatever verbiage they're throwing around at this point.
There's plenty of room for civil dissent without descending to those depths.
Go look up the definition of "Decent" and you will see my play on words there in contrast to the low class teabagger term to label dissenters. As far as Nazi goes, turn about is fair play. There were plenty out there calling Bush a Nazi. In fact, Nancy Pelosi used the word on citizens before Beck did. It just like the creation of derogatory words to through around. I have personally never thought bho was a Nazi. He is more like a 1936 Mussolini or a 1916 Lenin. The problem is that the current administration is so far to the left there are a lot of middle Americans getting called everything from rascists to Nazis to teabaggers.
While I agreed with < 9% of Bush, I give him credit for doing little to squelch dissent. However, the encouragement of ACORN and SIEU thugs at meetings is way out of bounds. I'm sure Kenneth Gladney didn't appreciate that or Pelosi's Nazi comments.
Edit: Over 8 years, Bush did about 9 things I agreed with. BHO is at about 1.5 and weighting those for 8 years lives BHO a slight advantage. However, they both had some major items I disagree(d) with. Bush had about 4 and BHO is already at 5 and counting.
