How was the cost calculated? How are the benefits calculated?

Let's say we did pay out $20k more for each job than the salaries created by the stimulus. Where did that money go? In my city, federal stimulus money funded some necessary infrastructure improvements. I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of materials and expended capital were more than enough to account for that extra spending. In other words, the stimulus money wasn't just to provide jobs, but to provide jobs that improved the nation.

There's also something called multiplication. Pay someone $50k, and they'll spend most of that--spending that will pay, say, $30k in wages to other people. Which means that spending $70k to pay $50k in wages indirectly but no less meaningfully increases overall wages by $80k.

Of course, I could be wrong about all of this, but since no link to information was provided, I can only work on what I already know.

F@CK that mess. I sure didnt know that when I enlisted what all crap I was going to have to endure or go through. Nowhere did I read in the fine print that I was accepting being a test rat for "Anthrax" vaccinations that ended up being suspended due to unforeseen health issues. Yeah, Where is my volunteering for that when I had NO CHOICE to recieve them?!?! Hilary may be a Bitch, but I think she would have set a lot of this shit straight! McCain at least spent time in the military, so he would still be as crooked as any politician, but at least he would have common sense not to attack Vets like that. Oh and by the way, what exactly has Obama done since he has been in office except spend a ton of money with no results?

How the hell do you draw that conclusion out of what I said???? I did not mention ANY other countries at all in my statement. The OP brought up the subject of the costs of AMERICAN stimulus money promoting AMERICAN jobs. I referred my post to AMERICAN issues because that is what is being discussed.
That is what is wrong with this world today. People don't know when to shut their damn mouths for a few seconds longer and process the information that has been presented to them!

This far along in Bush's first term his approval rating was way higher than the Obama's. As was Cheney's.
