What other addictions

Many of us, since buying our cameras, have developed "LBA" and/or Equipment buying addictions.

What other addictions do you have?

Me..........

I have a Craftsman tool buying addiction and have had it for several years. Every time I go to a Sears store, I walk out with some kind of tool. My wife always asks me, "what do need that for?" I usually reply that I don't need it, I just wanted it.

Lately, however, my LBA has been eating into the funds for the Tool Buying addiction. I think I'm going to start buying tools again for a while.

Anyone else have something like this?

Ed

Flyfishing and flytying gear and stuff and it's as bad as LBA. And just as expensive. But thankfully I'm pretty well equipped along those lines.
Not to mention keeping the puters going.........

Highend audio equipment. Can make Pentax photo equipment look inexpensive. Also Bicycles. Have 6. Only one was less than $1000.
thanks

Parrots. Umbrealla cockatoos in particular. They find me somehow. Can also far exceed the cost of photo equipment even when I am the "rescue" placement.

For me, it would be used books, tons of cheap used books. Even if I can't read them all. I also fantasize about gadgets regularly (phones, mp3 players, PDA's, and combinations of the above), but I don't have a huge budget.
Talking about my addictions, I splurged and ordered the K10D the other day. I'll be getting it in two months (it's in the US right now, and I'm traveling there in two months). Since then, my mind keeps wandering to that camera every ten seconds. I can't concentrate on studying, and my exams are a couple of days away. Please help, I think I need medical attention

used to be fanatical about playing video games - particularly a space game on the PC - (X2: the threat, and now X3: Reunion) - open ended games where you can basically do anything you want, too many places to explore, etc...

one of my friends at work and I would talk at lunch and break almost exclusively about "what did you do last night" and discuss our plans for the next night.

I was working 3rd shift then, I had a lot more time for games, because I got home @ 5:30 am when no one was up until 7 at least. Now I have a son, and I've been doing more photography lately too - so my game playing has dropped to about 3-4 hours a month. compared to 2+ hours a day, that's quite a good change..

Car stuff. I autocross (solo racing) and I get a lot of stuff for it to do that.
I'm not as bad as I used to be though, cause there's only so much you can do to a daily driver before it becomes unbearable to drive daily. I'll probably just end up getting another car as a daily and turn my Nissan to an all-out track car.

As far as the tool thing, my boyfriend is the same way. Except it's not cheap Crafstman tools, it's Mac or SnapOn stuff that's SO expensive. He touts the quality of their gear, which is true--it's top knotch stuff, but my god he has $6000 SnapOn toolbox and he estimates $2200 worth of gear inside. I can't fathom it.

Like most others on here I love technology.

Mobile phones, cameras, things like that. Spend masses of money on cars though.

skydragoness said there is a limit on how much you can do to a daily driver...I met and exceeded that point and was forced to buy a daily driver, haha, then proceeded to spend money modifying that one!

Well, I'm a tech geek too although everything else has mostly died off for LBA.

You know you got a pretty serious case of LBA when you end up buying the same lens twice...

I just realised that apart from photography every other addiction I have is to do with fluids. In no particular order. Coffe, wine, single malts, flyfishing and sailing. The best thing is that you don't have to do them separately.

Cheers

Wine + Single Malts + Sailing + Rough Sea/Lake/Body of Water = Loads of fun for all the family!

I am very fond of electronic music and the net-label "scene". Both writing music and listening to it. In particular I enjoy using programs that evolved from the Commodore, Amiga and Atari platforms. These are called trackers, that use a excel-like graphical interface to sequence the music. Compared to the "pro" software sollutions, it is quite unortodox.

If I had more money I would get more hardware. Such as the Korg Electribe EMX.
