Who's Headed To The Polls?

So tomorrow's Tuesday - voting day. Who's going? I've only missed two open polls in my twenty some odd years that I've been eligible to vote and those were due to an illness and a family emergency. I find it odd that everyone in the world can come out for a presidential election, but the closer to home elections end up being a ghost town at the polls. Why? I know tomorrow I'll park my car, walk in, show my registration card, sign the sheet, enter the booth, vote and leave - all in under five minutes. I remember one year there was a vote on the state's definition of blithe property. Another on beer and liquor tax. No one was there. These things have a stronger bearing on my neighbors, but it's too much trouble for them to do it. I just don't understand.

BTW- You heard it here first. NJ's election is going to be a stinker. Corzine will win by a small margin and there will be a recount revealing voter fraud within the absentee system.

I'm going, but not voting for either of the "big 2". Both are f**king corrupt idiots.

I'm glad to hear your heading out despite how you feel. Is there much talk up there about the "messenger" ballots?

I wish the elections last year were on the 3rd. That way I could have voted on my birthday.

Not "messenger ballots"... "robo calls"!

Allegedly, Dems having robo calls to Jerseyans telling them to vote for Ind. Chris Daggett.

The thing is, if I don't vote because I'm disgusted with the candidates, I feel I'm still tacitly approving of "business as usual" politics.

Edit: also, I mean, c'mon, part of Corzine's campaign "strategy" is mocking Christie's weight? Really? Good lord...

I'm with you, flippedgazelle. I've been following Daggett on the campaign trail, documenting his run. I'll be voting for him, because we need a change in Trenton...

Hey, that's a great shot!

My vote's for Daggett, as well.

Currently, the aggregate of 2 polls show the incompetent and the criminal each with about 40% of the vote, Daggett with 10%, and 10% wanting to move to the moon.

So, which one won - the criminal or the incompetent

Well seems that the repubican party was mostly victorious. Too bad it's because people voted for them because they are tired of what's there now. Not because they actually stand for things better. When are these repuglicans going to get back on course?

(misspelling intentional)

Heh, the criminal... maybe this means he'll fit in better with the NJ political scene!

I'm disappointed Daggett didn't do better... a large % of the vote would have told the Demopublicans that we're tired of all their crap.

As graphicgr8s has stated, people are voting for candidates simply because they are frustrated with how things are going, not necessarily because folks believe in the candidates.

Voter turnout in NJ was very low.

One on the most surprising facts that I didn't know about NJ was the property taxes! Good God, a $7400 average? Why would anyone in NJ want to own anything?
