Many of us don't. However, if you are ever in N.Y.C., drop buy both Adorama and BH and tell me they aren't real!

As opposed to a Ritz or whatever passes for mall kiosks these days.

No it's not. Everyone pays for shipping.

I then checked a similar item from Adorama.
Free shipping within USA, which is nominally an improvement over B&H
$33.05 to my part of Canada
$39.55 to Germany.

All this on a very small item costing less than $40.00.
I'm pretty sure these guys are making a pretty huge profit off the damned foreigners with their onerous shipping charges.
Now check UPS.com directly. B&H's shipping is quite a bit less than if you sent via the very same services.

I jsut ordered a item from a NY online store (E-bay), waiting for the package to arrive in Montreal. When I get it, I'll post any extra charge. for the record, the shipping fee was 33,00$USD for a ±1000$ item.

I don't buy online from outside the country. The one time I did was the Chinese split/screen and it was a worthless piece of crap. When I browse through Ebay sellers, some of the cheapest prices I have seen were from Prodigal2000 from Canada. Why are you guys in Canada ordering from New York and paying outrageous shipping?

Well for starters, the canadian dolalr is close to par (mor or les 91cents/ USD).

And our prices right now are rather hight on pentax gear. Example :

Pentax K-7 : 1299 to 1399 (is USD thats 1220$usd to 1305$USD) camera only

Sigma 17-70 lens 490$ to 530$ (is USD thats 457$usd to 494$USD)

Now I found the K-7 at 1029$ USD on Ebay (thats 1100$can). Event with 35 shiping fees, Im saving 200$ plus the taxes (13.5%) on the 200$ (±25$). And even if thesea mediocre quality, I gor a 2go memory card, bag, mini tripod and cleaning kit for the same price.

And I found the Sigma at online canadian, from Ontario (Henry's) store at 329$ can (thats 140$ cheaper than local in quebec). Shipping wat 12bucks

So for me there is a significant economy. Combined, I'm overer buy ± 365$.

I'm not looking for us imports only. I'm looking for good prices point.

With the number of complaints that fly around here regarding flakey cameras, I'd be looking at warranty protection. You'll find warranty service to be a PITA with your gray market camera.

The trouble with going to BH in person is that you will find it hard to leave with just the camera. BH is the DisneyLand of camera stores and Adorama the Universal Studios.

Even with the $65 shipping fee lenses are still hundreds of dollars cheaper than in Australia.
