    Hi shed301,
what an awful story. I feel for you. Was it a Pentax 100-300? I heard it is one of Pentax's weaker attempts, but that probably makes it still quite useful, I guess. Do you mean the Sigma 70-300? Have you read good things about it?

    BTW, we moved to http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/e...entaxians.html

I can either claim the insurance or get it fixed... or i could by that flash looking 70-300 on trademe for 450 notes !

Regarding lack of social group features: Adam cannot influence it. He is in the hands of the vBulletin developers. Social groups may have a notification feature in the next version, but maybe not.

Any messages (e.g., TM related) which you wish to be more private could go still to this group (perhaps announced that way in the thread?). However, there is nothing stopping anyone to become a member of this social group and read all messages anyhow.

I'll PM all members and inform them about the new thread.

K-xx-500-user already "Ayed" via PM so we have critical mass for sure.

I use Opera browser; it has 'speed dial' for specific pages, 9 shortcuts at each new tab in addition to bookmarks. Just click like a link...

Hi groupies! Why can't groups use these same features as threads anyway!?

I like the flash the stars story; those things just don't emit enough light...

    Wow, you are quick cpopham!
I was confident that more Aye's would be coming in and in any event it doesn't hurt to have two ways to communicate.

BTW, do you know about a quick way to visit a site you have bookmarked (like this social group page) using Firefox/Seamonkey?

    1. Bookmark the page
    2. Edit the bookmark properties and enter a keyword, such as "kiwigroup".
    3. Everytime you want to visit the page, just type the keyword ("kiwigroup") into the text field for URLs.

Works great for other sites (your online bank, etc.) too.

You can even pass parameters to google, wikipedia, etc. by using %s.

Example: bookmark "http://www.google.com/search?q=%s" and assign the keyword "g".
If you type "g Pentax" into the URL text field, you'll get a google search result for "Pentax".
