Sorry Adam, A page like this that shows the image of the lens: PentaxForums.com Third-Party Pentax Lens Review Database - Fixed Focal Lengths beside the title for that lens. I think we can add a picture(s) to a review we provide although I have not tried that yet.

Peter, there are three file upload entry fields to add an image if you are the first to add a lens. I'm not sure if someone/anyone else can edit a lens after the original person created the entry for it. But the person adding the lens also adds the image.

Adam, just noticed you're displaying IP addresses when one writes a review. I like my IP anonymity no prob you the admin and modz able to get to it, but I'd be more comfortable if the rest of the world couldn't.

Hi m8o,

I temporarily granted all Site Supporters full access so that Peter could upload photos of various lenses, but that access has now been removed, so rest assured that your IP info is hidden!

All SMC Pentax lenses are in the original lens review database (which has been online for about a year now). Here's a link: Pentax Lens Review Database - 16-50mm F2.8 ED AL [IF]

Lens Mount Compatibility Warnings

Adam

In responding to another thread on the infamous lens mount issues with Vivitar, and it occurred to me that somewhere it may be useful to have an additional warning about lenses, where applicable, and also a link to sites or other discussion threads about either modifications or compatibility issues.

@Adam great work!

One point, though...

As some less widely used lenses have their own category, I think you should make another category for
>>>Zeiss<<<
Their lenses are new offers for Pentax.

Same for
>>>Schneider-Kreuznach for Samsung<<<
which are Pentax-K lenses as we all know.

I wouldn't like those being added under Misc.

Schneider-Kreuznach lenses are just rebadged DA lenses, so I think the original lens database will do for those. I'll consider adding a separate category for Zeiss lenses later down the road, but for now, place them in the misc category- it won't be a problem for me to mass-move them if I do add the category.

I'm glad to see that everyone is enjoying the database and filling it up with reviews!

by rebagging does this mean simply changing the name, or is it like Tokina where the optical design is the same, but mechanical design is different? if it is the latter, then they should be listed separately because build quality issues (from either builder) could be a consideration in the review

Again thansk for this data base, and now for your next project, what about one for cameras?

Adam, this depends of how you see pentaxforums.com being positioned.

If you want to render service to people new to Samsung, hence Pentax, and looking up info about "their" new lenses, they would be turned away from pentaxforums.com because they won't know about the "rebadged DA lens" idea. And it may even cease to be true in the future.

So, if you position your database as a Pentax-K mount lens database, you need the Schneider-Kreuznach category -- and if it only has commented links to Pentax DA entries...

BTW, I've seen Tamron 18-250 tests vs. Pentax 18-250 tests done by the same people which had differing results.

Hi falconeye,

Thanks for the input! You have a point about Samsung users not being able to find their lenses- I'll try to set up an info page or something similar with keyword-rich links that will quickly pop up on google.

As for the 18-250mm- Tamron isn't Schneider-Kreuznach, is it?
