Scheduled Downtime: May 3rd, 2008

PentaxForums.com will be offline for a major software upgrade starting at 11 PM MST on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008. I expect the downtime to last at least thirty minutes, and the site may not regain full functionality for several hours to follow. However, everything should be back up and running by 2 AM MST on Sunday, May 4th.

I will be testing this series of changes on a test server to ensure that everything goes smoothly during the live upgrade.

This maintenance will include the following changes:

Forum software upgrade to vBulletin 3.7.0
- Thread tagging
- Search cloud / tag cloud
- Built-in thread prefixes for the Marketplace
- A new profile page with public messaging as well as inline editing.
- Lightbox viewer for attached images
- Enhanced global announcement
New sub-forums under the DSLR section: *ist D series, K100D series, K10D, and K20D

Please feel free to post any comments or suggestions prior to the initiation of this upgrade. I apologize in advance for the downtime, but on the bright side, it will be conducted during a period of minumum traffic.

Mind you, I only caught it by accident because it didn't come up as part of the New Posts.

Thanks alot for the new K100D series sub. I know there are a bunch of us out there. Not sure what the "Lightbox viewer for attached images" is but it sounds interesting

The lightbox viewer is a javascript window (similar to that used by the [imgwide] tag) that enlarges the image on-screen instead of opening a new window. You'll see it in action soon!

I'm happy to announce that the upgrade was implemented without any data loss or significant downtime. However, there are still lots of forum templates that need to be reverted or repaired.

Therefore, certain sections of the forum may behave a bit strangely until I get to them tomorrow, but all the basic features (posting, messaging, etc.) should be working just fine.
