New Marketplace Formatting Regulations as of May 2008: Thread Prefixes

Since the upgrade to vBulletin 3.7, predefined thread prefixes are available in the Marketplace. Please use these prefixes with all threads rather than the previous "FS" and "WTB" abbreviations.

Below are screenshots illustrating these prefixes. They can be applied from the message editing interface while posting or editing threads.

-----------------------------------------------------

Also, please create thread titles that directly reflect the item(s) being sold.

Examples of appropriate titles: For Sale: Pentax K10D, For Sale: Many Pentax M Lenses, For Sale: AF360FGZ Flash, For Trade: SMC Penax FA 135mm
Examples of inappropriate titles: For Sale: Lots of Stuff, For Sale: Extra Lenses, For Same: Fall Lens Cleanup

We might also need "For Trade" and "For Sale/Trade" prefixes. Thanks Adam!

I just added a "for trade" prefix! Stick to "for sale" if an item is up both for sale or trade.

I'd just like to thank everybody for making such a quick transition to the new system- it seems that every single thread posted since the upgrade is using a prefix instead of one of the old abbreviations!

Nice, Adam.
What you did make it very easy to browse the market.
Thanks for your great idea.

Select the appropriate option from the 'thread tools' menu.

------------

I'm now also happy to announce that users will from now on be forced to choose a prefix for their marketplace threads, and thus everything will be tidy and uniform!

I've now moved this thread away from the Marketplace, into the news forum instead, as the forum software will now automatically remind you to add a prefix if you forget.

The three stickies in the Marketplace have also been updated with new, current, and easy-to-follow information.

Is it possible to add a FREE prefix. I had to use the General forum for such an item, recently.

Thanks

I don't want giveaways to be posted in the marketplace. You'll have to stick to the General Talk forum as well as possily your signature. Sorry! I will, however, consider adding a dedicated forum for freebies in the future.
