Talking New Design for Quoted Text

New Quotes

The box that displays quoted text has just gotten a new, fresh design. It uses less code, takes up less space, and looks better. Have a look for yourself, and enjoy!

Took me by surprise when I first saw it. I'm not a big fan of change, but I'm sure I'll probably get used to it.

What's really nice is the amount of effort you're putting into this site! Thanks a bunch!

I am sorry to say so, but...

The new design is nicer, yes. But it makes reading a thread a lot harder. In flying through a thread, it is important to quickly separate quotes from new test. This isn't possible with the new version anymore.

Please, give the new quote box a different background color, at least. Thank You.

I could change the color of the text slightly, widen the separator, or slightly increase/deacrease the font size to no longer match that of the other text. Which would work best?

I could try dark blue, similar to the time text in the footer. But I'm sure yet others would complain

Ah, I see. Somehow I would like to see that the second quote is a response toe the first one. Could that be done? Thanks for all the hard work, Adam!

nested quote is here
None of this. Give the quote box a slightly darker shade of gray (if you ask my opinion). Or give it a slight color cast.

You have a <div class="quote"> in your template, so just add a background-color: selector in the css style sheet.

A change in text size or color would reduce readability even more. The reduction of the size of the separator is a keeper

UPDATE...
Oh, I just see Syb's post. I did a test myself (cf. above). Besides some glitches, nested quotes seem to work ok.

Sounds good- I'll see what I can do there.

Though you must admit, the new design makes reading nested quotes a lot easier. For example:

Even with the lightest shade, it looks ugly (IMO) with a background color, though I'm willing to keep it this way. What do you think?

I only made the temporary change to the green skin.
