Wow those shots from the seventies brought back some memories. Were those ever published in magazines?

Hi slackcruster!
I have described how I obtained the border effect in the original thread.
Followed the link to your posted B/W images, which I found stunning and would dearly like to be able to emulate to some small degree.
The main obstacles to my doing so are: i) I find it very hard to visualise how colours will be rendered in B/W, although I do realise that this is much less of a problem with the ability to preview digital images at the time they are shot, and ii) I fell extremely uncomfortable when it comes to portrait photography. I think that this is largely due to my own inhibitions and, strangely, those of my entire extended family, when it comes to being the subject of a photograph. Perhaps I'm just too vain!
Best wishes and thanks for your interest and kind words.
Jon

the 70's shots brought back so many memories (though of NYC and Toronto) I wish I had my negs from then (damn my mother)
Have you got these up anywhere besides here, they really should be out there
btw my photo journey sounds like yours
"Got into photography in 1970. Then got burnt out and left it. Try to pace myself now, so I don't get burnt out any more."
just change the date to 73 and 76 -79 when i was full on nuts for documenting life
