I know I'm late in posting this here but there are still 10 days to add an entry.

Your challenge this month is to show a photograph that demonstrates or defines happiness.

Use this opportunity to show images of happiness, or things/actions that make you happy. Big smiles, babies, Christmas presents and/or LBA are just some of the things that demonstrate or make you happy. Let's see happiness.

Challenge #28 closes: November 31st 2007 23:59-59 midnight IDLW – International

Challenge Rules

If you have not entered before, please read the rules carefully, as this anonymous challenge is somewhat different from the WMC, date and number challenges.

** DO NOT POST IMAGES THIS THREAD, but rather upload them to the relevant PBase gallery (Main Challenge or Exhibition). I will then post them to this thread to keep the thread (and challenge) alive. This way the anonimity of the participant will be maintained. Comments to the images in this thread are welcome. We also get occasional comments on the galleries themselves, and these are also welcome.

** Once you’ve uploaded the image you should send an email to the host (e-mail profile), including the title of your photo and your name. Please use "Challenge entry" or similar as the subject line to make ID easier. This will allow the host to publish the names of the winning participants once the voting is over and address you if something is wrong with your entry.
** The Challenge Gallery is for entries which were taken during the Challenge
month (i.e. shot for the theme) with a Pentax SLR, film or digital.

** The Exhibition Gallery is for entries which were taken at any time as long as they meet the challenge theme. Any camera will do as long as you are a Pentax SLR forum member.

** Password to access PBase is unchanged but for those who still require it please send an e-mail to the host.

** Leave EXIF data intact. For composites, please cut'n'paste EXIF of all used photos. All photos used in a composite must be shot during the challenge month to be eligible for the Main Challenge.
** Maximum image size is 800 pixels on the long-side and 300kB JPEG.

** You may post a maximum of three (3) entries into each gallery.

** If you need assistance uploading images send an e-mail to the host (e-mail in profile). We want your images even if you aren't an experienced PBase user

** If you, for any reason, cannot send e-mail to the host, post a "help me!" message here. The host or another helpful soul will assist you.

** If you, for any reason, cannot upload your image(s) to PBase, it is possible to e-mail them as a properly formatted attachment to the host (e-mail in profile).

Voting

After the Challenge period ends, the forum votes to determine the winners. All forum members may vote, even those who did not enter an image. Voting is done in a separate voting thread established by the Challenge host. There will be three winners chosen from each gallery. When the voting is complete, the winning entries will be named and their winning entrants identified.
** When voting you will not be able to vote for your own pictures.

** The entrant who submitted the winning entry in the Challenge Gallery will serve as host for the January Pentax Challenge.

Well I didn't really know where it would fit. Its not a Pentaxforums contest which is what I thought the Mini Challenges & Games section was for. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You might want to let folks know that you've invited them to participate in a challenge originated at DPReview. The winner will need to host from there.

Also, the winner actually hosts the January challenge.

Al has invited folks here to participate in a challenge hosted at DPReview. If you were to win you'd need to hang out over there for the month of January to host it.

The challenge pics are hosted on pbase - the announcement and voting is typically done on dpreview. I expanded the announcement and voting to this site a few months ago (to the chagrin of some, but, whatever, I don't see this as an "us vs. them" thing though some on both sites do). But, I think it is fair to say that if someone wins the challenge, they should be willing to spend the time at DPR the month they're hosting to keep the challenge going. If you don't want the honor (or the work, or the requirement to go onto DPR) of hosting, then just enter the exhibition gallery - where you can end up winning and not have to host.

And, Al, you're doing a great job - I'm just not finding much photographic inspiration in the things that I'm happy about this month - but I'll try to find some this weekend.

Thanks Terry. Yes the winner hosts the January Challenge. I'll edit that.

I thought it was habit that the challenge was posted here as well but it seems I was wrong. Hope I didn't ruffle any feathers. That wasn't the intent.

You know you could always find someone else who's happy and photograph them. Worse case scenario, pay someone $5 to smile and take their picture =)

Or maybe the next challenge will be things you're not happy about. Imagine all the possibilities...

I'm moving this thread to the mini challenges and games section, even though it's not an in-thread contest.

When in doubt in the future, post in the "Everything Else" section rather than in the General Pentax Photography forum. Please read the forum description and/or sticky thread to see what goes where.
