Weekley Challenge # 74: History

Well, I guess i'm up and sorry for the delay. The subject for this week is History. which can be a place, building, or site of historical interest. Recent history is ok too and include a little background. Hopefully we can all learn a little and enjoy getting out and shooting.

________________________________________________
The rules:
1. Post ONE photo (max 1000x1000).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be color or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but if you have to explain it, it probably doesn’t communicate what you are trying for.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera will do or a Samsung DSLR.

John P. Cable Grist Mill at Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, TN.

Has operated continously since the late 1800s except during times of drought.

Silhouette of Historical Ship.

Exact replica of HMS Endeavour, ship sailed by James Cook in 1770 to discover Australia. This replica built for Australia's Bicentennary in 1988

Here's one from inside of Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution was signed. It was taken with the kit lens.

Some nice shots so far. This is going to be a very busy week so I may not have much time to get onlin and comment but I will try.
Ed..Nice shot of that old mill
Solpez and Song hm...nice re-enactor photos. My wife does re-enactments but hasn't in the last couple of years due to work. I have a lot of photos but none yet with with K10D.
Bramela..Nice shot of that ship
Oldschool..Beautiful shot of the inside of Independance Hall. I visited that many years ago.
m8o...Good sign shot. Sometimes historical sites are nothing more than a marker along a road but its good they are remembered.

Also i'm sorry for not posting the end date and time as this is my first time and having my share of senior moments. Since I got going late I will run it through the weekend until midnight sunday Oct. 19 and will post the winners on monday morning because as it looks now I may not be home.

Here my addition. It is also my first attempt at a pano! A view of the dead sea from the cliff top ruins of Masada. I have a much larger photo but i didn't want to mess too much with the forums by uploading it to this thread.

Making Hay While The Sun Shines

From a visit to a working historical farm (~ 1898 era). This was the last load of hay for the day being unloaded from a horse drawn wagon.
