Oh man, 09-03-2009 in this thread seems to be the last time he posted and he only asked who wanted it, not that he sent it. Long time since his last post. I hope nothing has happened to him. Something has to turn up, I can't believe someone would steal this lens. If he had sent it along wouldn't he have let us know?

I took the liberty of sending him an e-mail reminder with a link to this thread. I hope we hear from him soon...

I completely apologize for dropping the ball with this lens.

I ran in to some issues here at home...

Can someone just please let me know who to send it to next.

Send an e-mail (or PM if they're online often) to the next person on the list. If they don't respond within a day or so, contact the next person.

I must say I'm a little disappointed with the current status of the niftyfifty project. It started off with a lot of interest and now has just fizzled. Just looking at the flickr site, the last posting was April 14th...that's 6 months ago!

The people who have used the lens, can you please spend 5 min and post your photos to the flickr site and geotag them. Hopefully this project picks up again.

come on now, how much people did get this lens in almost 1 year and a half??
Not really much. At least 12 people should've had the lens by now. It 'was' an interesting project... It can be interesting again if the lens travels a bit faster..

I think there should be a deadline for "holding" the lens.
Something like 1 month per person (shipping time excluded).

What do you people think of this?

1 month is much too long. The rule of thumb was "Get the lens, go out once or twice with it over the course of 3-4 days, then ship it to the next person in line".

I just got the lens today. its mounted to my istD at the moment. whos minolta lens cap? ugly as hell. how could the traveling 50, not have a pentax cap? anywho, I will try and take it out within the next couple of days. I will make an attempt to have the lens no more than 1 week tops, so that it can get moving. but since I work at night, I cant promise that I can go out and use it as fast as id like.

Hey Fig, there are three pages on Flickr and it seems they are backwards. Go to the first page and you'll see pictures from august. I took many more than I posted on flickr but I thought we were to post three of our best???
But you are right, the last two months have been slow but it seems the lens is on the move again.

When I got this nifty-fifty it had the minolta cap. But hey, at least it has one.
Also, just to check - jsherman left a little something with it to me that was meant to travel with it. Hopefully it's still making its way.

I have to admit that I'm one of the bad boys - I had the lens IIRC for ~ 2 weeks. Sorry
The folks before me, especially the aussies where awesome in that I think they were able to pass it around in less than 1 week each, in some cases it appears 2 days ea.

I do agree that 1 month is too long though.

no mate, I only recieved the lens, rear lens cap, minolta front cap and a "kitstar" filter. I dont know what jsherman left with the lens, but I sure didnt recive it. maybe its somewhere in Oz? if I can find a genune pentax front cap ill be happy to swap, if nobody objects. id even be happy to swap for a pentax UV filter, but I dont think I have on around that doesnt have smudges and fingerprints on it.
