It wasn't there when I got the lens either. The Minolta cap isn't that big a deal and the filter protects the lens in transit if nothing else. The important thing is the lens and some pics from all around the world! The most traveled lens in photographic history! Think about them apples. I've never heard of Canikon guys doing something like this, let's keep our focus guys, hehe, get it? Keep our focus:-).

When I had the lens, if I recall correctly, it had a plain front and rear caps.

Someone should check the state of the glass, if no-one has recently, too.

...and I've yet to post my photos - procrastinated too long on which to include, so I'll have to urge myself back onto it.

Cheers

When I had it it had the Minolta cap and a rear cap, but I don't remember anything else in the box. What was it?

I was I believe the 1st recipient of what jsherman left in the box:

Just so you folks feel better, it was not h/w. I think jsherman just wanted it to keep traveling with the lens - unfortunately looks like it's lost it's way
The filter was not there when I rcvd it so someone after me graciously provided it.

Why aren't people adding info to their photos. Add your name, location (city, country) and then geotag it. The flickr site just looks like random photos taken from anywhere which defeats the purpose of it travelling around the world and documenting it's experiences.

I have to admit it has seemed to stalled a little since hitting the US. I think Seamus has the lens these days. hopefully it will start moving again

What do you all think? I will be sending out on Monday, I don't have much time to shoot during the week. Saturday will be my big day!

Could someone put me in the line please?
I'm from Poitiers / France. Thanks.

I have a 50 1.7 myself, but it's interesting to participate in a project like this one.
Should we call Guinness for a new record? ^^
