Weekly Challenge #81 - The Holidays!

Since we are fast approaching the holiday season I thought it might be fun to throw out this challenge: Capture 'the Holidays' - the more offbeat or unusual the better! I will be looking for photos that have an interesting 'twist' on the holidays!

Good Luck and have Fun!

As usual the Rules are as Follows :

1. Post ONE photo (max 1000x1000).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be color or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but if you have to explain it, it probably doesn’t communicate what you are trying for.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera will do or a Samsung DSLR.

Somebody's gotta be first ! I think a first for me in this contest.

I have several traditional but thought I would start it off with this one. (This is only about half the people that were there)

Our annual gift grab , a lot of you have this where you get numbers pick a gift , next person can grap yours or a new one , etc ...great fun some classic gifts (we get a good combo of nice and gawdy!) In this one you wanna be last pick as you get a choice of them all

Tight quarters 12-24 comes in handy...

An unusual 'twist' you say?

What can be more "holiday" than electric trains? Every year the NY Botanical Gardens puts on a magnificent display of NYC landmark models with electric trains running past, around, over or through them. The models themselves are terrific examples of the model makers art, all the buildings, stadiums, bridges lighthouses etc are made almost entirely from plant material; bark pine cones, seed husks, dried fungi etc. Much fun! And even one of the electric train cars was 'christmas themed' though more of a 'scroogy' way.

If you want to see some more (many more!) photos check out my "Holiday" gallery on smugmug:

Seeing Double ....

Here is my new entry; The Ghost of Christmas Present" from our 2007 Christmas Card

Here is a bonus from our 2006 Christmas Card. There are actually only two children in this image, the rest are clones.

Great photos...just an observation.

Well, I'm working about 55-60 hrs a week plus a 3-3.5 hour commute each day. Don't have much time for shooting. "Scrooge Colleries" is what you're gonna get.

No complaints...just an observation.
