Weekly Challenge #94: Balance

Weekly Challenge #94: Balance

Balance: subject placement within the frame.

I'm probably the worst candidate to host much less judge a challenge, but since the honor fell upon my shoulders, I decided I would come up with a challenge that tests one's ability and more importantly ones idea(s) regarding composition. hopefully this will inspire everyone to try and achieve such a state [of balance]. not terribly difficult, yet vague enough to leave room for interpretation. as a street photographer I generally fail at this quite often. it is an essential element to the basics of photographic composition yet can be very hard to achieve with most subject matter. give it your best shot and lets see what you come up with.

contest will close Tuesday, April 14 (7 days) I will post the judging results Wednesday, April 15

inspiring enough Gary? yea probably not. oh well.

On the contrary Séamuis, very inspiring and also challenging in it's simplicity.

I'll start the ball rolling and I tried to take it one step further and balance light and dark also.

Well now an interesting theme - here is one I took last night. I think it qualifies for the subject matter as I find balance all over the frame.

Wow! Nice images Gary and Dave. I will have to look and see if I have anything that fits the theme.

I came up with this one. I think the reflection and structure being a cross creates a real sense of balance. Now... would others agree Hmmmmmm?

Like I did.

Well, last week anyway and I did take it with a view to posting it here. It was just fortuitous that it met the criteria of this comp.

Ooh, Ooh, Here's my entry:

These five birds were just so beautifully spaced on a wire, facing the last rays of the setting sun. I suppose you could also say they are "balancing" upon the wire.

*ist DL with Quantaray 100-300mm, at 300mm.
