Picture of The Week : 06/21/09-07/04/09 #68

I thought I would take up the running this week.

The past few weeks have been a great success with high volume of top class shots.
Lets keep it going folks.

Last week's POTW

Thanks Dave for another very successful thread past week.

I purchased a new K20d this week, so as soon as it arrives it looks like I better get some results up for viewing!!

All of the past POTW's are now linked below under the name of the host. So it's easy to go back and view some past weeks.

Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 06/14/09 to Sunday 06/28/09. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

Very nice Bruce. I've had precious little time to take fun pics but I'll add something:

Thanks Peter, and I like your shot as well. Reminds of the famous Great Ocean Road drive in Victoria Australia which is really beautiful.

Bob : we have a plane much the same in this area. Having an Airforce base here, we have a brilliant Air museum as well.

Thanks for the quick reply and postings , gets us of to a great start for the week.

Rocky Mountain National Park. Woodpecker feeding Chick. There was a couple of Canon photogs with high end gear taking photos at a carpark. Stopped and chatted and they were really nice. Doubt their uber expensive gear produced much better pics than this though!

Peter - interesting beach
Bob -Great sunset image
Light_Horseman- Impressive

Here are a few boat shots so Planedriver doesn't develop a monopoly on things that float (Just Kidding Andras). These were actually taken a couple weeks ago but tonight was the first chance I've had to put the card in the computer.

LightHorseman. That is a very nice capture, of the two birds.. Well done.

Sea Capt. : Really nice vessel that first one, a bit above my station in life. Nice shots.

No worries, happy to step in.

Tran : that shot has a real atmosphere about it. Like the way you have handled it to make something special.
A really nice shot, to me!! IR certainly gives a great effect.

Thanks for your kind words , Bruce . We did talk about this location before the shoot . Most models will know a cool location in their towns . I shot a few more with ISO 200 but I like this better - ISO 800 . 15-minute wait for the wind to pick up her dress .

I PPed along the dreamy/fantasy theme .

Bruce-I really love your flower shots and not only these but the rest. The dark background makes them special. I've seen one of the others went into PPG well I think this would worth a try too!

Peter-that's a good shot. Pictures like that always make me feel I should travel more to see nice places around the world.

Bubbabob- what a wonderful capture of that Learjet. Beautiful colors. Is that a gate guard near an airport?

Light Horseman-good capture really sharp.

seacapt-It's seems I have to keep an eye on you but as far as you shoot the bigger ones and leave the small boats for me it's ok

Tran- Like the theme like the effect good framing-good example of the nearly unlimited opportunities we have in the digital world.

More boats:

Thanks for hosting Bruce ! I was going to try hosting this time also but you beat me to it. Now I know the Aussies are always ahead of our time :-)
If you could tell me how to paste the 'previous hosts' text block with working links I'd appreciate it. Congrats on the new camera. Hope you get as crisp results as with your flower shot !

Peter, at first I thought there was a water or air reflection involved in your photo. A scenic view for sure and a peaceful atmosphere.

Bubbabob, great lights and colors I think. Made me a little sad also - that bird's never gonna fly again.

Horseman, fantastic capture ! Sure that lens can keep up with the big whites :-)

Seacapt, first one does give great impression of speed and a fresh wind. #3 is probably less tall than #1, still looks a lot more prone to rolling over .-)

Tran, great IR work and it does look real classic to me, would love to see one 200iso shot as well for comparison.

Put some stuff on the windowsill and you'll be rewarded

We put up a Gold Finch feeder, and had them visiting the next day. Here is a male.

Great pics for this week! Unfortunately, it's been a slow past few weeks for me (busy with work and kids coming into summer vacation) so I haven't been shooting as much as I'd like to be. Some random greenery shots and some shots of "takoyaki" (Japanese savory dumpling made in a griddle) being made at a garden party I went to yesterday.

Bruce, thanks for hosting this week. It's a great start and I'm always impressed by the weekly submissions. Here's a couple from Saturday evening (including my first ever fireworks which definitely needs help).
