Picture of the week #86 Oct 25 - Nov 8 2009

So it's time to see your stuff from last week and this upcoming week.

Thanks Peter for the POTW. Nice stuff last week posted here Picture of the week #85 Oct 18 - Nov 1 2009

Again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 10/25/2009 to Sunday - Sunday 11/08/2009. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

Previous hosts: (each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 83 weeks. Peter started the links, I know it had to be a lot of editing!!

Under my umbrella

Just back from Brussels, Belgium and finally had a chance to go through some of my shots this weekend. Had to try my hand at a rainy night and out of focus with passing umbrellas. My first batch for this week. Ken.

So good to see the POTW going strong nice OOF shots Ken and thanks Dave for hosting. I have been away for a while on some R&R so this week I will slowly reveal where I was (it will be pretty obvious soon haha).

Well ya always gotta pack ..... and yes usually way too much although getting better at it - only one check in each

One of my favorites from last nights festivities....Batgirl, Superman and Mickey Mouse, ready for candy, er, and maybe a little mischief:

A butcherbird though I couldn't spot him hiding in his nest but his beak was a bit of a giveaway.

Peter, thanks for fixing the links... You've created a monster (or you have a trick that I don't know)!

Ken, thanks for getting us rolling with your interesting study in light and contrast.

Dave, welcome back. You've got us all wondering now.

Macgirl, shocked I am to learn that mischief might be afoot on Halloween!

xjjohnno, love the kite.

I haven't had a lot of time out shooting lately so here are a few that I found cleaning up this weekend.

A couple from recent rainy/misty days. Just some basic levels adjustments and minor cropping for the first three. Wanted to play with the last two to make them look older due to subject matter. Intentionally blurred the railroad and sepia toned it. I really liked the effect it gave, just wish I could have burned the edges and clouds a bit more, but I'm just using a very basic PP program. The shed I desaturated by 50-60%. Tried a blur also with it, but didn't like it as much. Enjoy!

Just a random dog out on a walk; it was running around and didn't have much time to draw and fire.

Been a wet and miserable weekend here, a perfect opportunity to bust out the macro lens and a bottle of fizz:

Thanks for the comments Dave - some really nice diverse shots from everyone as well.

Not the best seat on the plane but what ya going do ?

We landed , it's now pretty obvious what ?

Just in case it is not that obvious from above

We left on Satruday evening and came home the following Friday evening. Wow 7 days is the longest I have stayed in this town. A bit too long to tell you the truth as we have been going there once a year for several years. For a first visit it would be great. I hardly took any pictures (by may standards anyway haha). But will post some in this thread as the week goes on.

As always, the standard is very high. Thanks for sharing.

John, really like the third one.

Mark, like the contemplative mood in the second and the excitement at the game/pep rally.

Jeff, those dalmatians were bred to run... sort of like that FA*85 was bred to be sharp!

Carl, great job with the fizzy water. Particularly like the first 2. How do you light them?

Dave, I figure it was probably Vegas from the R&R and greenback clues but I wouldn't have put money on it! Hope you didn't lose your kit!

Paul, does "old school" mean film, manual focus, both or something completely different? Like the flea market shot. The marathon just looks like normal rush hour in Manhattan

Keep 'em coming folks! It looks like another diverse week in the Pentax fold....
