What the heck is this???

Clues:
1. It's a common, everyday object that many of you are familiar with.
2. That's not noise you see but an accurate rendition of the color and texture of the surface.
3. Those interesting patterns were created through use.
4. Off to a fine start!
I'll post the answer in picture form if everyone is stumped after a reasonable time.

I'm stumped!

It looks like a 200 year old rock formation but that's hardly an everyday object

I'm gonna guess....

a bar of soap

1. It's a common, everyday object that many of you are familiar with.
I hope most of our members are familiar with it, if I'm right...

4. Off to a fine start!
frequently used in the morning...

I thought it's a rock too, but yes that's hardly everyday subject.
But the soap teory seems plausible to me

I know this is already said. It does look more like a beach rock surface.
