Weekly Challenge #19 - Boats

The next weekly challenge is boats.

I grew up right beside the St. Clair River (Southwestern Ontario) and was more comfortable in a boat than on land for many years. My love of boats is still with me and I am drawn to them like a moth to flame. I have seen a few pictures of boats here before and I am hoping that this challenge will offer many more for us to enjoy.

I am looking for pictures of boats - canoes, kayaks, row boats, sail boats, tug boats, fishing trawlers, cruise liners - you name it - boats! Anything and everything from Tom Sawyer's raft to an aircraft carrier is eligible so everyone can participate.

Have fun!

Here are the rules (as usual):

Final entry due around 6AM EST on Friday June 01, and I'll post the winners on Friday or Saturday

The rules:
1. Post ONE photo (max 800x800) as a response to THIS post.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be colour or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but I'd be interested to know the location/event/whatever being depicted.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. The challenge runs for 7 days plus a day or so for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any camera will do but it must be a Pentax.

Previous Challenge Subjects:
1-Statues 2-Wheels 3-Speed 4-Peace 5-Survival 6-Macro 7-Mountains 8-Children 9-Post Processing 10- Windows & Doors 11-Sport 12-Urban Landscape 13-Wisdom 14-Power 15-Music 16-Pathways 17-Lines 18 -Storm

Example...
I took this picture on the beach at Mazatlan, Mexico last winter. It was a perfect day for sailing and lots of folks were enjoying the warm breezes.

Start bailing!

I'm not a boating person but I always thought the water was supposed to be on the outside.

Cropped and Photoshop'd - Vivid layer at 85% - nothing else. Thought it was worth a try....

I took a little trip to the Lochsa River yesterday to get some pics of the the rafters and kayakers. This is a great whitewater river during runoff. There are a few resting stretches but not many, this river just hammers you all day long.
This photo is of "Lochsa Falls", a nice drop with a surprise at the bottom. Well it shouldn't exactly be a surprise but that standing wave got almost everybody, kayaks and rafts alike. There's a pull off at this spot and people bring their lawn chairs to watch.
This girl came along and just nailed her run. It was beautiful to see. She was one of the few to not get capsized. I've got some neat pics of rafts going over etc but I want to honor this girl on her run.
K10D, 18-55mm kit lens, shot on a tripod with my new toy, a Brunton TH-Grip Ball head (this thing is awesome).

Old boat

North-western beach of Estonia. It seemed to be a boat in a middle of renovation - old paint was scratched off, some wooden parts replaced, no engine. They did not notice a small leak

BTS

Well, the theme is BOATS, but there is something missing (hence my title). After a storm last November, this is part of the debris that was washed down river to the beaches.
