Theme: Contest #21, May, 2008

The theme for the PentaxForums.com May Photo Contest is:

Yellow Macro

Your task in this contest is to use either your macro setting on your camera, or to crop your image to get in close to your subject. One catch, your subject must be yellow. Other colors may be present in your photo as long as the main theme or subject is yellow.

As usual, plase do not post your submissions as replies to this thread! Make a new thread in the submission sub-forum instead!

If this is your first contest, you may be interested in reading the following articles:

Good luck to all participants!

I don't have a Macro lens (as you can see by my list below) and I was wondering if there was a inexpensive way to do some Macro shooting?

FL Gulfer : you could always try Close Up Filters. They usually come in sets of 3 and are very effective.

I used to use my telephoto for Macro shots, you can't do excesively close but you can get pretty good results; maybe with your 250 or 300.
Just use a tripod and the full zoom and if you put something to make a shade over the subject will be so much better.
Also the Close Up filters as Bralema says are very effective, you will maybe get a kind of vignete but you can crop them later.

Not just flowers are yellow:
This was taken with a reversed Pentax 50mm 1.4 Super Takumar. reveresed on a Canon A70 PS camera so not eligible for the comp so will post here as an example.

Yellow Tiger Swallowtail on a Veronica Plant (not yellow)

At least it's not a flower, and the subject is yellow!

Well, there may be yellow flowers...

and then again there may be yellow flowers with yellow insects...

and then again there may be yellow flowers with yellow insects killing each other.

Then again,

maybe not

Did anyone ever answer the question about using the Pentax clone cameras?

My film cameras are Pentax, but by new digital is a Samsung GX-1L (ist DL2 clone).

Thanks,

Ray
