a decent canon forum?

Anyone have suggestions on Canon forums? The dpr one is...hmm, how do I say this...annoying.

I found this one to be good on the video side of things:

cinema5D.com • The forum for dslr filmmakers

Have you checked out photo.net's EOS forum? It tends to be a mix of newbs and old forum vets that are jaded, but there's good threads in there once you weed out the "Why does my 10-20mm make my friends faces look weird?" and "What's the best lens for a wedding with an XSi?"

I read both POTN and FredMiranda.com -- can't stand dpreview forums.

I also vote for Fred Miranda. Most of the time people is friendly. It has gear snobs and excelent photographers in equal parts. Once that you know who is who, you can learn a lot from that forum.

Same here...

I've visited the Canon forums at Fred Miranda and at Photo.net. There's much more traffic at the Fred Miranda site. I imagine there's even more traffic at DPR, but I've never really liked the feel of that place. The Photography-On-The.net site is pretty good as well. Seems like a decent bunch.

The FM wedding forum is where I learned much of what I know about Canon equipment. Pingflood has been a huge help as well...

FWIW, I've used FM and POTN to buy most of my lenses and both grips for my 5D's. There is a TON of used stuff out there, a lot of it being sld by people who were overwhelmed by DSLRs.

Photo.net is pretty decent but alot of good people have stopped posting in their canon eos forum. Luckily these p-net defectors still chat in fredmiranda's canon site. I also like their Nikon and their alternative forums.

Dpreview has some good info too. But theres alot of noise & clutter too.
Trolls lurking about everywhere, who own zero canon gear.

Maybe this site will become more vibrant, in accepting other brands? Personally I find the ease of use at pentaxforums is best. Its nice to have a place here to chitchat up or down other brands.

We're just back from a couple days at Maroon Bells outside of Aspen. Dozens of photographers there at 6am. Most all were Canon and Nikon equipted. I saw my first Sony Dslr in the wild. No Pentax & but instead a couple large format rigs. Wife hijack'd my D700 and 14-24mm full frame this trip. So, I need a spare D700 now. Well, soon. Before Spring 2010 for sure. She really digs the Nikon D700, even though many would worry its simply "too heavy" for her to enjoy using.

Incase Mr. Nostatic is not in a hurry to compete his eos gear aquistion, Canon instant rebates are due to start around Oct 10th. These are point of sale money off, no forms or mail ins required. Lenses can range from $25 off to $150 off & $500 off on a great white or two.
