Fuji Film Canister Diffuser

Arpe asked me to post an image of my fuji film canister flash diffuser, so here it is.

This one is just a quick job, so it isn't pretty, but then, it doesn't need to be.

The basic procedure is to use a box cutter or razor blade to cut a rectangle from the bottom of the canister to almost the top. The film canister is about 5 cm in height. The rectangle is about 4 cm long by about 1.5 cm wide, and it should slip right over the built in flash.

These dimensions work for the K100D, you might need to alter the dimensions some if you have a model other than the K100D. Or maybe not.

YMMV. Boxcutters and other sharp implements are dangerous, and should only be used by trained, certified professionals.

I made one for my camera the first week I got it. Used a canister from Life brand film (Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada). Bump up your exposure or flash compensation to +0.3 or +0.7 depending on lighting to get best results.

Any sample photos with this neat little gadget? Need to get that done too (while waiting for 540 to be back in stock somewhere)...

Regards,
D

I took some sample shots with and without the diffuser, but I might have deleted them. If I didn't, they are still in pef format. If I get a chance later today, I'll convert them to jpg and put them up side by side.

The effect you get is elimination of the harsh light of the flash, you get much more of a natural light look.

I'll try to get a few from my camera posted up tonight as well. I took a ton of shots this weekend (My son's and a "niece's" birthday parties).
