Contest #7 Voting

Here is this month's collection of bird photos. Vote for the one you think is best! Looks like it'll be harder this time around since we received more than twice the number of submissions than last time!

Note: you must be logged in to vote.

A suggestion as there are so many... Maybe you could narrow it down to the top 5 and have another poll to determine the winner?

I'm not too worried about narrowing g it down, however I'm wondering if we can post thumbnails, along with a link to the bigger version next time.
Even with cable it took a fair amount of time to download, and I hate to wonder how long it takes the people with dial-up to get them all. And a thumb should give us a good idea if we'll like the picture.

There are some lovely bird photos on offer.

I would like to suggest that the poll results not be shown until the voting finishes as some *maybe* swayed by seeing how others have voted. More so those who are unsure of what to look for in a photo or who are not very confident on what constitutes a good photo.

If we want thumbnails in here we'll have to require all submissions to include thumbnails as well. It would definitely help tidy up the voting page, but it doesn't seem realistic

Adam as I pointed out before - a DP Challenge style of commenting and voting out of ten on each image is really needed here. If as in the past there are only 100 voters the winner may win with <10% of the vote. Probably too late for this contest but in the future. Surely there are add in scripts for vBulletin that can be trimmed to fit...

Wow, now I'm REALLY glad I didn't get a shot that I felt was good enough to enter!

I agree -- I'm on cable and it's early in the morning, EDT, and I still can't get them all to load at once. #41 is missing.

Actually, at this point, wouldn't reducing the number of entries help? Plus, there are free sites like flickr where the thumbnails are generated for you, so we don't have to worry about it being cost-prohibitive or software-dependent. And it's a month-long contest, so "I didn't have time" is a less persuasive argument...

The other option (although this is slightly more complicated logistically for Adam) would be one "voting" thread (no pictures) but multiple "viewing" threads, say of 10-20 images each.

How about that?

Great stuff here, very difficult to vote.

It would be better if we could vote at least on 5 photos. Voting on a single photo is really difficult here.

Well, I've narrowed it down to my top 20.

<edit> Okay, I finally narrowed it down to one shot. I felt like Simon Cowell on American Idol, looking for reasons to cast out shots. Tough to judge so many great shots. Some of these belong in National Geographic.
