The kit lens, for the price, does a good job. Maybe another telephoto near this range but with a better f-stop would suit more? This can cost more than this listing on amazon, but could be more rewarding. Check the SOLD listing in the marketplace to see some of the telephotos that could more suit you.

Just a suggestion.

The FA 50 f1.4 was the first lens I bought after purchasing my ZX-7 kit and I'll never get rid of it. I've used it in every low light situation I've been in and it never lets me down....I may let it down, but it's a solid performer for the price. It may not be wide enough for indoor snapshot type photos but it's wonderful for intimate candids and short telephoto work.

You could also look at a 50mm f1.4 in either M42 mount or M mount. For low light they work reasonably well but do consider the shallower depth of field you'll get opened up.

thanks to you all, it looked like it had some decent feedback
I take a lot of close-ish indoor shots of friend's kiddos, pets, product for my website, etc.
there isnt much info about the mount?
does it need an adapter for the K series cameras?

Just get it, everyone needs a FA 50mm f/1.4 in their bag, seriously this is one of the best 50mm you can own.

And it fits straight on your K100, no adapter needed.

It is a great lens. It rarely leaves my camera. Most of the shots in my 365 project were done with that lens. Between my 18-250, 105 Macro and this lens I feel I have a great kit to cover most occasions.

No adapter necessary. It's a modern AF lens, and as you may be realizing from the other responses, pretty much the standard first prime most people get. Although I find 50mm too long for most casual indoor use, and too short for concerts. Be sure to use your zooms enough to convince yourself what focal length(s) you will find most useful.

It's a nice lens and the wide aperture gives you some nice creative control with depth of field.

Congrats!

Good in low light too...

Great lens, especially for the money. It was one of the first lenses I bought after my first kit. You're right, for low light and really shallow depth of field, you can't beat it.

The philosophical question about the FA 50mm f1.4 for me is whether or not the 55mm DA* f1.4 is $600 better than the FA 50mm.
