Just though I'd let you good folks know that based on some tips here and subsequent research I've just received and set-up my tripod.
 -Gitzo 2540EX -Markins Q3 -Really Right Stuff L-plate for K10, slightly modded to accomodate the extra light port on the K20 Breaks down quick, build solid and light enough to strap against my modest Tamrac backpack for hikes. This will be more than I ever need - which is good. Thanks for the tips and leads George! Kelly.

Depends on what you're using it for. I got a ballhead, because I'm never on flat pavement; I'm always on rough terrain, so I got a ballhead so I only have to adjust one knob when shooting wildlife. I like it much more than my old 3-way.
If you're going to be shooting events in the city, go with the 3-way. 3-way's also tend to be a little sturdier and have more precision. |
