Pentax with a Flash Bracket

Since I am new to Pentax I have yet to use the camera on my Stroboframe Press T bracket.

What are the options to mount the flash and connect to the camera.
With my Minolta I needed a cord and a flash shoe
With my Canon I just needed a cord.

Is it possible to just use the flash in wireless mode and forget the cord?

I use the cord to connect the 10D to my 500 FTZ flash, I would assume if you have wireless capability you could use that.

Wireless depends on the bracket. I have a stroboframe quick flip where the on board flash cannot pop up, thus no wireless.... But if you already have everything, just give it a try. The pentax wired set-up requires at least 3 pieces, but you can get dedicated cords from ebay. I've never tried the ebay models so can't vouch for them, but the pentax gear (while expensive) works very well and is quite robust.

Wireless

Wireless may or may not work (built in). I've been testing a K20d with the Pentax 540 and 360 flashes using infrared. They often need the controler at a 30 dgree angle to fire. I use the built in flash as the control flash - just to fire the external on stands. The built in will fire them through a shoot through umbrella, but it's touching getting a flash pointed nearer right angles to fire using infrared. I'm ready to get some sets of radio flashes.

To use the built in as a control flash (on the K20D) go to Custom menu item 29 and set to off. That means the built in will fire out of sync but setoff the other flashes. I have had good luck hand holding a flash off camera.

I had trouble with the infrared shooting in a bright house too, so that is why I'm going to radio.

You may be able to bend the light from the in camera control flash to the strobe using a white card tape to the in camera flash. It may work. It if does it would also work in pttl. Let us know what you find out.
