JIANISI Camera remote !
- Safe and reliable with multi-brand cameras support
- long distance control (more than 5m depending on camera type)
- Powered by one CR 2025 battery (battery included)
length: 8.6cm
width: 3.3cm
height: 0.6cm
It work perfectly with my K20D, tested on K10D and Nikon too.
It allow to focus... shut.
The original F remote for Pentax. Only because it fits in the grip and does what i need for the limited use it gets. I've heard your version works well though.
I have the Pentax model as well, and if I had to do it again I'd choose something with a more realistic range.
In my opinion 100' isn't an unreasonable distance to expect from a remote.
Just crossing the average street is around 3x further than our remotes can handle

Yes.. most of ppl brought the original remote.. I'm thinking that way too,
3rd party remote like mine cannot fits in the battery grip.. if I brought the battery grip then I might consider to buy the original F remote.

Same here. In fact, I didn't knew there were "off brand" usable remotes. BTW, last week I used mine for a "family portrait with me included), under broad sunlight from about 25 ft away and worked fine. (using 3 sec + remote delay)

i bought some remote at a garage sale last week for 5 bucks
it has "PENTAX" embeded in it, i guess its original.
can be attached to a belt or whatever, slides out, about the size of a small lighter, has 2 buttons, works pretty far away if it can see the infared beam.
Same one as you Rodneyy, purchased for $4.46. Also got a corded Yongnuo remote for $4.82, since it has a nice sliding button to lock shutter for Bulb use. Under a tenner for both, delivered to my door.
Why pay ten times as much? Dunno.

Home made. I used an atari cartridge shell for the body, a cable I cut off of god knows what and two switches and a plug from radio shak. It would have been cheaper to buy a generic remote, but I'm a fiend for projects.

same here, for IR remote but note, I am working on a radio trigger for extended control, using an FRS radio.
I can only claim to know nothing about such things.
Actually, after building an interface between a flash trigger and my camera's electronic release, for the purpose of photographing lightning, which I have not done yet, it got me thinking about what else I could build. Using an FRS radio and the earphone jack seems to be a trivial option with a couple of transistors diodes and resistors to both activate the metering, and shutter. (I would manual focus before I leave the camera)
Someone who wanted to do this to simulate without any help a light crossing an abandoned railway span, with a long exposure, posted a question as to establish if some way was possible.

This will extend remote to 3 KM by line of sight.
Pretty brave, to walk that far away from your camera, leaving it unattented.
If it were me, i would have a "self destruct, if main carrier signal lost" funtionality built in as an option!.
I use DIY wired, parts from radio shack.
For IR, a sony surround sound remote, has a range of about 30' in daylight.
