AC adapter for K200D

I see that the official K-AC76U adapter is $69.95 . A bit steep for a little transformer !

The K200D power terminal is marked 6.5V DC. But the plug seems relatively big. Does anyone know of a compatible adapter (universal type) at a more reasonable cost ?

Hi,
I'm using old Radio Shack AC adapter #273-1696. It has selection 3 - 7.5V, including 6.5V. I believe there're some other adapters. Just make sure of the polarity of the tip.

Thanks !
Does that one come with the right plug adapter ?
And how can I know which polarity is right ?

Most decent universal adapters should have the right plug and voltage..
Centre positive.

Hi,
Here's the link:
RadioShack.com - Power & Batteries: Home & office power: AC (Home) adapters: Digital Camera Power Adapter

You need plug B and, as prev. poster indicated, the plug has to be set so the center is +

I will probably find an adapter for my new K200D, but I will do so with caution. Cheap adapters are usually not regulated. All adapters are designed to put out their rated votage at the full rated current. Therefore the unregulated ones have a no-load voltage substantially higher than the rating, which drops as load is applied. What happens when we hot plug an adapter whos internal capacitor is chaged to 10 Volts? I don't want to find out the hard way.

No one actually knows what the required current is or if the Pentax adapter is regulated. Perhaps someone who ones one will share the information from the label with us.

I got the adapter at Radio shack yesterday. They let me try it in the store, which was very nice. It turns out that the plug B that comes with the transformer is loose on the K200D. It would only power the camera for a second or so, then stop. I was unable to take a picture. I had to purchase the separate adapter plug C to get it to work right. Cost me $43.93 after 8.25% sales tax. Still not cheap, but better than the Pentax version.

Don't know about K-AC76U, but the Pentax K-AC10U AC Adapter for DS/DL has output current of 3000 mA and I believe it is regulated adapter.
