Swiveling Flash Head.

I had previously been given to understand that the Pentax 360 did not feature a swiveling head. But the following claims otherwise. This ad, of course, could very well be unintentionally misleading. But if the 360 does swivel, then I might just order this baby TODAY!! .

Bounce, no swivel.

I (sadly) thought so - but hoped against it. In light of this issue, now, it appears that the wait is 'on' (for the 540) - unless I choose to give in to the beckonings of that Sigma 500 Super .

I had the 360 for awhile. Fortunately it packed it in and it was replaced by the dealer, so I had the oppurtunity to do what I shoulda done right from the start - I upgraded to the 540. Having used flashes with bounce and swivel I should not have settled for a flash that had just bounce. I also wanted one with a bit more punch than the 360 has. I've had my 540 for about a year and love it every time I use it.

Hi J,

Unfortunately, the 540 could not be found in-stock anywhere. I just recently ordered the 360, and it could be that this particular model may suffice quite well for me. I have always believed in buying, at least, a little 'ahead' of what might be needed - for the sake of still having something usable, in the aftermath of realizing growth within whatever my interest was. And that was the reason why I wanted the 540. I guess that I could have waited on it (the 540), but you know how it is when the 'bug' gets a good hold onto you .

I am looking to receive the 360 in about another week, or so, and it could be that the 540 just might be in - at that time - or coming within a very short time after that (like, within the 14-day return period). If either of those scenarios does prove to be the case, I will then return it for credit against the 540.

We'll see how it plays out.

It may suffice in 90% of the cases but when you realize you need head swivel then you NEED it

When you usually bounce off the ceiling and can do that without swivel, then as soon as you turn the cam sideways to take a standing portrait your flash ends up bouncing off the wall (if there is any). You'd be able to turn it pointing upwards with swivel.

It's a bit late to undermine your brand loyalty, but I've settled with Sigma 500 super and been quite happy with it.

As an alternative you can try to build/buy effective diffuser so that you can still flash folks without washing the colors when you can't bounce.
