sigma 500 dg super

where i live, pentax products are hardly available at all (at least new ones), so i was wondering if i could get the sigma 500 dg super for pentax, could it work as a wireless flash, pop-up one on my k10d being the master?

what will i lose when compared to pentax 540?

Unfortunately, no. Current Sigma flash (even re-chipped version) does not work wirelessly when using the pop-up flash as controller. You need to have another P-TTL flash attached to the K10D's hot shoe.

The main thing you lose is full compatibility for current models and possibly future models. There is also no external battery options and no Pentax flashes' Master:Slave wireless flash ratio settings in Sigma flash;

I have used the pop up flash to trigger via wireless with the K10 firmware update.
I am not sure I would recommend the 500 as I bought mine in mid december 06' and it is in already getting tech to look at it.
It seems to work fine when I have my sigma 17-70mm at 17mm, but the further I zoom out, the darker the shots become. the flash indicates it is also zooming with the lens, but at 70mm it is between 1-2 stops underexposed.
I can rescue them in raw, but they become overly noisy for the ISO I use.
