battery grip contacts?

Hi

I was wondering if the contacts need to be cleaned even though they look clean?

I just discovered (well, still trying to determine is a better saying) that my K10D seems so far to work better with the battery in the body instead of the grip.
when the battery was in the grip sometimes I would get completely black shots without any information in the pic, even though the exposure was correct. sometimes I had a few overexposed ones.

it maybe premature, but ever since I put the battery in the body it has performed without a hickup.
I will likely know more when the battery gets close to low.

any thought much appreciated

cheers

I use battery only in the grip and havent got any difficulties.

Maybe contacts are really dirty, or there is something wrong in the power system.

Hey Randy,

When I was a kid, I had a problem with my nintendo games. I was told to use a clean rubber eraser and gave the contacts a very gentle rub. Never knew why, but it worked.

Later on I learned it might take some oxidation (or oils from your hand) off the contacts that you may not notice with the naked eye.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Harold and Alvin!

I will be using this info once the battery runs out and I put it back in the grip...

You can do it when ever you want. No need to wait until it is empty. Clean the battery grip contacts between grip and body. Maybe it is a good idea clean also the battery power contacts, in the battery and inside the grip.

By the way, my K10D behaves quite odd way when battery is allmost empty and internal flash is used. After pressing shutter button, flash fires, shutter obviously functions (sound) and.... camera reboots :-)
Nothing is written to memory.

When this happened first time I was quite frightened, thought that it was completely broken. But, no, it is just too empty battery. Without flash you can take some tens of pictures before battery is completely exhausted.
