Memory card situation

I had been using a Transcend 4GB/150X SD card for a week or so, no problem. I went yesterday to do a newspaper job and came home and tried to download the images through my computer's card reader using Lightroom as usual and the computer told me that the card was not formatted. Hum! I put the card back into the camera to try with the USB and the camera said that the card was not formatted. Hum! The images were gone. Now I know they were there because all morning I was occcasionally playing them back. I wrote to Transcend and they told me that Pentax does not recommend using larger than 2GB cards. I cannot find that information anywhere in the manual or on the website. I wrote back and asked where she found the information, but haven't heard back. Has anyone had a similar problem?

This from Pentax FYI

Thank you for contacting Pentax.

Up to a 4GB memory card should work for that camera, although we
wouldn't advise a larger memory card.

If you are in need of further assistance, please respond to this email
or call our technical support center at 800-877-0155.

Sincerely,
Regina Brown

Thanks, I'll try that. I've already tried "Image REcall" with no success.

I have the same issues with the card reader on my laptop, tells me my card is not formatted. The problem might be the file system, FAT for SD versus NTFS for computer, but not totally sure. I simply put mine in a USB SD reader from Lexar and it reads fine. Don't format the card as I am sure yours is ok, try other systems. Also make sure the contact on the card are clean.

doesnt matter for the file system. I run NTFS on all my machines, and i have no issues with any card transfers.
