W60 samples vs. Oly 1030sw

There was a good thread here, with comparable samples :
w60 vs. 1030sw @ imaging-resource: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

It also seems a unique function, to have AF and zoom ability in video mode. (Though the downside to using it, is motor noise, so should be used with this in mind).

Sounds like it actually is a good follow-up to the previous waterproof models from the Pentax series; which came out well in tests in the competition against oly

Optio W60 (pic) samples

Hi Sune,

I picked up a W60 a few hours after selling one to a mate of mine and here
are a few sample pics with the first (1st) couple of photo's being Macro's and
a portrait ..... of sorts

1)

2)

3)

And, as for the video being atrocious -- as mentioned on another DePravedfoRum -- it ain't no 5D Mk II but it ain't that bad.

Cheers,

Jack

Thanks for the sample shots. I would say that the rendering looks fine.
I’ll for sure get me one of those at some point as well.
Hope they don’t keep cramping more MP into it. But if one uses flash under water, I guess it doesn’t matter as much.

I ran into this great writeup on the W60 on the dpreview forum:
chasing light...: The Pentax Optio W60... a camera for everyone's pocket!

I'm thinking I may sell my K200 and pick up one of these as a backup to the K20. That K200 is kind of heavy for carrying around all the time.

One of the BEST blog sites ever with re: Pentax

All the naysayers re: Pentax and all those that HAVE to cross over to the dark side should go through this blog and then look long and hard at themselves in the mirror

I don't know...that last shot looks a little fuzzy to me.

Amazing photos (caveat-- I am very new to photography).

Another view, with a few videos taken with the W60 - not a real review - just my non-technical look at the Pentax Optio W60 is available at:

Pentax Optio W60 Waterproof 5x review by beta, consumer reports & videos

You can hear the motor noise while zooming.
