Point & Shoot Contest #24 - "The Best View From My Place"
The rules:
Rules of entry
1. ANY camera other than a slr/dslr is eligble.
2. Entries will end on Sunday October 9, 2009 20:00 EST. (-5:00 GMT)
3. Maximum image dimensions are 800 X 800 pixels.
4. List camera BRAND and MODEL with entry for all to see.
5. List the name of the place, the City/State and Country where the pic is taken.
6. Maximum of 3 photos per photographer.
7. Post processing is fine.
8. Winner will set up and judge next contest.
9. Remember to have fun
As far as I can remember, the rules have always been copied from one contest to the next. So, the "ANY camera other than a slr/dslr is eligible" has always been there.
Though the capitals on "any" are rather recent, I believe.
This has indeed angered some people up to to the point of not participating anymore.
I don't think it's a big deal: at the dimensions we are using here, it is not as if non P&S cameras are automatically going to win!
Rules are rules and let's not forget rule number 9
Of course any winner of a contest can modify the rules according to his own preferences.
So, for those that would prefer to limit the contest to only P&S cameras, I would suggest: make sure you win and make a change
My reading:
This has angered some in the past. Me? I'm a strict constructionist. I'll go with original intent and live with it.
Whomever is judging can just exclude my entry based their interpretation of the rule and no hard feelings on my part. Maybe I can dig up one of my pinhole camera shots, the original point-n-shoot camera, and see how that goes over. ;-)

Since you quoted my message, let me be clear about MY feelings about this.
I think that you should be allowed to enter that shot. I think others have already agreed.
I agree the rules are clear and as has been said the next host can modify the rules if the wish but we cannot change the rules after the fact. and we want more entries and its just for fun so no worries there
Well, I'm too late, but wanted to let Bart know, I'm not one of persons he
mentioned.
