If we are going to see a FF camera from Pentax I don't see we wouldn't necessarily see one in 2011.

IIRC most discussions of a possible FF Pentax in previous years has put 2011 as the earliest point at which we might see one. Although having said this if Pentax are coming out with two mirrorless cameras this year I'm not sure they have the capacity to also launch a FF.

Anything you haven't heard yet?

Really, an ogl post should have a bit more content in order to spur interest.

An astrophysicist friend told me, in strictest confidence, that the Sun was approaching extinction. I can't identify him or I'd lose access to such inside info.

Nope, we won't see FF.
At least this year.

We will see DFA 645 25/4.0 in spring and maybe some portrait 645 lens in autumn-winter.
And maybe (if we are lucky) we will see new flashes (replacements for 360 and 540).

We won't see FF because:
1) Pentax/Hoya has no will to do this
2) There are no official FF lenses. No 24-80/2.8 and no 70-200/2.8.

Anything new for our current APS-c system (full frame compatible)? (next to the flashes)

Or are we spending 2011 on evil's?

Ok, here we go again

It's a new year. In 2011, my statement regarding FF is this:

As soon as Sony Microelectronics offers the full frame version of the IMX071 sensor to Nikon and Pentax, they both will have a very hard time to resist.

The full frame IMX071 (i.e. same process) would have 36 MPixel and more than 15 EV dynamic range! It should be offered for about $300 to Nikon and Pentax, leaving $200 profit to Sony Microelectronics. There have been messages that Sony will indeed do another FF chip in the foreseeable future.

I expect this offer to emerge late 2011 and a new full frame generation would be due for Photokina 2012 This round would include Pentax.

I've no insight info but that's my best guess predicting various events.

C'mon ogl. Source?
Credible?

Or this is yet another rumour-mongering FF thread making us all click on your thread and getting people's hopes up...

But Falk, thanks for sharing that info - very interesting indeed.

Will Nikon get those sensors from Sony, or make them themselves? I am unclear on where all of Nikon's sensors come from, other than the D7000 which is pretty clearly Sony's work.

My feeling is that K5, flagship model, will be replaced by full frame -- announced the end of the year, but not arriving till January/February of 2012.

Till today is not one Sensor made by Nikon in the house
I think the K-3 middle of next year is using the same Sensor like the K-5,but improved and new processor, new AF System and Design, more speed and a tack bigger Body.
