Help me assemble a map of places to buy Pentax DSLRs locally?

Not sure if this has been attempted before, but I thought it might be a useful idea with all of the talk that Pentax DSLRs can't be found locally...

Editable Google Map
The map should be fully editable for everyone.

The format I set up is like this:
Waypoint name is the name of the store itself, not the address.

In the description I have:
- What they offer (a full range, only a few items, only one DSLR, etc...) .
- Their street address.
- Website address if available.

Red icon for a full range and blue icon for only some Pentax gear.

I've added the few I know about. I added B&H and Adorama assuming they have full ranges of Pentax in the store, correct me if I am wrong because I have never personally been to their retail stores.

This should be fun to see how wide spread Pentax really is at a local level! That is of course if people help make this happen.

This is a fantastic idea! You've already got the NYC shops, but I'll share on Google +

But wait - doesn't a map already exist? http://www.pentaximaging.com/where-to-buy

Hmm, I'm looking at it and that might be useful now (although it doesn't list one shop I know has a smaller selection). Back on their old site the shop listings were out of date and mostly wrong. I assume they only list places in the USA.

I added "The Camera Store" in Canada. From their Youtube videos, they must have some Pentax in the shop. I remember going to two islands in the Caribbean that had some Pentax stuff...now if I can just remember exactly what and where.

In the past I found that Fry's Electronics carried Pentax (at least the Kx/Kr). Recently - 2 weeks ago, when I was over there, I looked and no joy. I don't know if its permanent or just temporary out of stock - but they did not even have a place for Pentax. ... but their web site still caries them. So, I have no idea as to whats going on with them....

I was in the Caribean in Saint-Marteen.
The store who carries Pentax , they all overpriced. You can negociate but why should you.
In Canada , we still have a lot of local shop who carries the Pentax brand. MOst of them are part of a buying group . If they dont have it in store , they can ordered. THat what I done for my K-5 when it got out . I save $150 at that time versus others.

FotoSource is one of the largest buying group , they have almost 200 independant shop in Canada.

I guess Scotland doesn't really count as local to you.

Probably just as well as Pentax outlets are more or less non existent in this country.

I tried adding some points but found it extremely awkward. It would be useful because when traveling abroad I like to look in local shops. Especially those selling used gear. Maybe another color pin for that

It will be local if I ever travel there. I'd like to see points all over the world. My goal with that map was to have a visual way to find places people can actually hold a Pentax DSLR in their hands.

I agree there. Google needs to improve their interface...

Thanks for your help.

Andover Photo in Andover MA (Andover Photo) has a limited selection of Pentax dSLR, OEM, and aftermarket glass along with some used K-Mount. Small selection but Bob knows what he's talking about.

I think you need a Google account.

When you go to the map it should have a link in the top left called "Save to My Places"

So once you do that,
You can just search on anything in google maps. When it gives you locations from your search (like the address of the shop) in a waypoint, you can click on the waypoint and the pop-up will have "Save to map" and our map will be in the list.

You wouldn't need any pins for Newcastle, Australia, unless there's a bloody big internet server hiding here somewhere.
