The mystic K100D service menu

I noticed a guide for checking the number of pictures taken, which made use of the service menu, and was wondering about what all the options in the service menu actually do.

Holding INFO and AE-L while turning on the camera.
Quickly after, press MENU, MENU, INFO.

It lists the following options:

"DEBUG MODE" - Obvious use, and for checking the shutter releases.
"CARDDOOR OPEN" - Handy in case you like to open the card door when the camera is on.
"WRITE CF VNDR" - ???
"SCRIPT EN MODE" - ???
"USR DAT CLEAR" - ???
"SWITCH TEST" - For testing the buttons.
"RELEASE AGING" - Just making the camera shutter go berserk. Nothing useful, I guess.
"LENS COM CHECK" - From the name, I guess it is for testing A lenses.
"EXIT" - ...

I am just a bit curious, what do the other things mean?

(In case you want to check the pictures taken, go into the service menu and choose "DEBUG MODE", set it to "EN".

Press OK.

The camera will now start up as normal. Go into the menu, and navigate to the "Set-up" tab. Find 'SYSTEM TEST', and a screen with some options will come up. Set the value of 'Test Item 1' to 1, and confirm with OK.

Now, press the shutter release button, and watch the number at the ninth line, to the left, after "RLS:". That is the number you are looking for.

I suggest you disable "DEBUG MODE" by repeating the procedure.

And, of course, I am by no means responsible for the funny options to e.g. screw your AF.

USR DAT CLEAR might clear your user settings (duh?)
WRITE CF VNDR - Write Compact Flash Viewfinder (probably antiquated menu carried over from the *ist series) - maybe an indicator in the viewfinder for when the camera is accessing the memory card?

I have NO idea what EXIT is for...

SCRIPT EN MODE sounds very interesting. It probably isn't, though.

Just realised the usefulness of the "RELEASE AGING" - simple - aging the release; testing its durability. The shutter fires off until it goes SPLODE!

Probably useful for the situation where you are married, and your wife doesn't understand why you have to buy another camera, when the old one still works.

If I remember correctly, on the K10D, the service menu only works until before a certain firmware version. The K100D Super could have had this removed as well. Can't really get why the menu has not been removed from the 'standard' K100D.

I thought it was pretty much step-by-step in my first post?

(Could be a bit difficult to understand because of my not-so-good technical language.

Whoa, 19,000 actuations. I guess that makes sense, with about 17,500 shots plus the occasional digital preview. But damn, this little camera is quite the workhorse. I've never had a single problem after almost a year and a half of constant use-- not a loose hinge or button anywhere. I've been drooling over the K20, but I now think I'd feel guilty casting my little companion aside for someone (I mean, something) new...

Ok, so I followed the 'step-by-step instructions' and I've hit a roadblock. Please help.
screen reads:
WAIT HS...
DSP ver: 1.00.00.07
CPU ver: 1:00.00.07
PRG 620 256 256 398

How do I get out of here and back to normal???

While pressing [AE-L]+[MENU], turn the camera on.
Firmware is desplayed on LCD.

This works on my K100D Super but only shows the firmware version - nothing else happens even though I press MENU, MENU, INFO ........
