Hot pixels and service cost?

Can't believe I'm doing another hot pixels post...

But anyways, I decided I wanted a second body so I got a used ist D. Nice little job...and yeah. Hot pixels abound. Literally a dozen scattered around the scene at ISO 200.

So this camera is obviously out of warranty. How much would it cost for me to send this thing in to service for this?

Can't take it back to where you bought the body?

Well...bought online. From keh.com actually. They do have a 14day straight return policy...

Do you shoot jpeg or raw? My *istD that I purchased new shortly after it's release has developed a number of hot pixels. I never see them. Most raw developers now have hot pixel removal, and it's automatic. If you are shooting jpeg this is of no consolation. It is disheartening to purchase something for a few hundred bucks or more and it has such a short life expectancy. Maybe in the future it will be possible and affordable to replace the CCD every couple years instead of replacing the camera.
