IR filter removal???

I have a *istD which I don't use, but don't want to give away on eBay. I looked into having the IR filter removed so I could use it for IR photography. The only companies I could find worked only on Canon and Nikon (in fact, one announced that it would now only work on Canon--TAKE THAT Nikon). I tried to talk Pentax USA into doing it for me at my risk. NO DICE. They would not even dicscuss the issue.
Any suggestions?
Is this something that I might try to do myself?
Thanks for any help.
Jack

Pntxjack, if that link looks too complicated there is another way! Frank posts on these forums all he time and he has a friend that modifies Pentax DS cameras for people. You can either send a camera or buy one modified. He has done quite a few. Frank is great to work worth.
thanks

Dear Barondla,
Boy Howdy was that link complicated. Plus I am very accident prone, so would almost certainly fry myself and the camera.
How can I get in touch with Frank?
Thanks.

Thanks Jeff--way too complex for me--at least now I know why I should not try this myself.
